I had the previous model in 162kw R-Line form with all option boxes ticked.
It was a great car. Compact but a decent enough size for most duties.
Sold it outright too for an incredible price. It only lost $10, 000 in nearly 3 years.

Great review Tom; great to see the addition of time codes on the reviews, but most importantly the price and running costs in recent reviews. The running costs (insurance, maintenance) & warranty are critical and are factors that are usually an afterthought for most buyers, but I'm finding make a huge difference when shopping for a car as they vary significantly by brands (VW & other German brands have historically been notoriously expensive).

Have a look at this review of older ones and a mechanics view at around 628 on the video ..I would say what he says is typical of workshops views on most VW's .... they are the gift that keeps giving.

Subtle changes but it looks much better, especially for the base version, which previously looked like a fridge on wheels.

I think I almost prefer the previous styling... Not sure I totally like VW's newer design language personally, I'd rather the equivalent Skoda - would probably just grab one of the new Octavia's which are really nice

We bought the 110 comfort line with lux and driver assistance package we love it will def upgrade to this with the luxury pack next year. So we'll equipped for the price 2wd is fine for the city too

Hi Tom, great review! Can you elaborate on the torque converter turbos on the VWs? Why is it bad? That's what they put in the upcoming Golf Mk 8 right?

Premium fuel is nearly 20c dearer than standard unleaded! That’s significant!

Those climate controls in the front look a bit funky. Are they touch sensitive sliders or something Tom? If so, I can't imagine they are as easy to use as the old physical dials. What are your thoughts on them?
