Why Trust is More Important than Love in Relationships

Many romantic movies and books lead us to believe that love is more important than anything else in a committed relationship. However, when it comes to a long-term relationship, I find trust to be most important as we fall in and out of love. This video explains why I see it in my own marriage and in my clients' marriages.

The things you are saying about trust is what I've said to myself and my ex wife who kept doing things to erroid all trust. And because I became a victim of narcissistic abuse it became hard for me to hold to what I knew to be true, but when I trusted myself and held to this fact about trust I was able to break free from all the lies the hot and cold the gas lighting the projecting the triangulating etc. Trust is the foundation to all relationships especially marriage without trust a person doesn't have anything even Real Love.

I think trust forms much earlier than 18 months. My older brother and I were 13 months apart in age when I was born. My mother told me that she propped a bottle for me and would leave me in the crib and give my brother the attention so he wouldn’t get jealous. I never bonded with my mother. I’ve always had difficulty trusting people. But I trusted my husband completely and had many well thought out reasons why I did. So, can you imagine the trauma I felt when after 29 years of marriage, my husband had an affair?
