To all the people saying, oh you’re pretty etc, as a certified ugly girl, this has no effect on me. You don’t have to be pretty to be treated like a person, it isn’t compulsory. Some people don’t fit the standards, and that’s okay.

While there is nothing wrong with being physically ugly, she is objectively NOT ugly. She feels and thinks she is, probably because she was bullied mercilessly. As she ages and matures, I'm hoping she will feel differently.

I was bullied mercilessly all through grade school, middle school, and high school. One boy pretended to ask me out and then immediately walked over to his friends and pointed and laughed at me. My freshman year, some of my male bullies tied me to a flagpole after school and ripped my shirt open to "prove" whether or not I was a girl, because I was so flat-chested and "SHE'S SECRETLY A DUDE" was their favorite narrative to bully me with. I not only graduated high school a virgin, but I had never even been kissed. I'm 30 years old, and I still struggle a bit with my confidence. Most days, I feel decent about my looks, with some bad days sprinkled in. I went from thinking I was hideous and unlovable to feeling confident most days. I'm hoping she will go through the same epiphany I did: That she is NOT ugly, she just had ugly PEOPLE in her life who treated her horribly for one stupid reason or another.

I also realized that most of the girls I knew who believed they were ugly were NOT, and THAT made me realize that if all these girls who believe they're ugly are actually pretty, then I might be having the same dysmorphia they are. That mindset also helped with my body as well. I would ask myself "does my stomach shape look bad on this woman?" I would realize it doesn't, so why would it look bad on me? It seems like the older I get, the more I realize I don't know anything about myself. A lot of my perceptions of myself were extremely distorted and just ingrained into me by other people or society.


Edit: THIS IS ALSO WHY BULLYING SHOULD BE CRIMINALLY CHARGED, DEPENDING ON THE SEVERITY. IT CAN POTENTIALLY DAMAGE PEOPLE LIFELONG AND CAUSES TEEN SUICIDE TOO OFTEN.

I'm going to be honest with you: you're not ugly. You're not a model (which for some reason we all compare ourselves to), you are a normal girl. You're actually pretty cute. Please stop comparing yourself to people who has access to expensive hair stylist and spend who knows how much time putting on makeup just for a video that is going to be further edited.

Dude I have been exactly where you are and a lot of days I still feel like that, but trust me this is more of a mental issue than anything and I believe if you had regular therapy it would be a lot better for you. I would take so many pictures of myself in jr high and high school and just obsess over how I looked and cry about it so many times, but now at 25 I’m doing a lot better and I’ve realized it’s not really my body I hate, it’s just there are a lot of internal factors that I need to work on in order to feel at peace, and when I’m having a good day I feel absolutely beautiful. You’re a normal girl and you don’t have to be a super model to feel good about yourself! The world’s expectations are weird because we’re so used to seeing people doing the most all the time and yes there are gorgeous people, but trust me your character matters SO MUCH MORE than your looks.

I relate to you so much. I never really got compliments growing up and when I did it was like "your clothes look pretty", it was never that *I* looked pretty. The awkward silence from friends when I say that I feel ugly hurts. I also wear glasses and sometimes I go without them because my face will look more blurry and it's harder to see the real me. I cried after I saw myself in the mirror with my glasses, it's like I had 100 more imperfections that I hadn't noticed before.

I feel so related, i am always THE ugly girl for my whole life with bucket teeth and thick glasses. Totally nerd nerd. My friends always say they like my personality but i have never received a single compliment as "you look beautiful". I want somebody to say this to me at least once.
