Behringer XR12 Review

A quick review on working with the Behringer XR12 X-Air.

I instantly fell in love with the sound of the preamps and processing on this XR12 Mixer and still think they are great even after having it for a month or so. It always scares me though to not have any controls on the outside to reach for in case any thing goes wrong.

The user interface is deep when you get into it and there is so much you can do. The vintage room reverb is excellent and I've started playing with some of the other plug ins. Just recently I was playing with routing and got a virtual stereo bus happening with processing. Another time, I brought it along just to use it's RTA functions to test out another PA installation.

My biggest regret really is not getting more of those luscious preamps as in the XR16 ... maybe then I would want the recording options that I would get with the XR18. Ha ha ... no end to it. There after followed by all the great things I could do with the X32.

Dear Youtube viewers, please click like and subscribe if you liked this video. I was recently contacted by Youtube that I will be removed from the Youtube Partners program as I don't have the minimum of 1000 subscribers. Regarding the minimum number of 4000 views per year, I easily have that thanks to you my viewers. I really hate to ask this of you but in order to stay in the program, I will need more subscribers.

PS ... and I really enjoy making these videos!

Thanks
Don M.

It operates a little clumsy on my iPad mini (first version) ... but maybe it is under powered for this application as it does work flawlessly with my Macbook Pro.

But seriously, a little more cash would have got me 16 preamps and I could do a lot with that but when I purchased it, I was thinking more of using it for in a small venue with my Boss L1 Compact or as a wicked IEM mixer for playing drums.

Thanks for the "walkthrough". Just wondering why you didn't throw on some compression for the mics, instead of increasing the gain so much. The condenser mic is much clearer than the lapel mic which has a bit of "mud" at the low-mid range. Try some of the vocal presets - they are not "bad", and a good starting point for tweaking. Also - if you really want us to hear what your fiddling with, then maybe turn down the background music every once in a while to highlight what you're doing and we can hear a good A/B better without the "distraction" :-)

De gran calidad este material, sigo en el aprendizaje del inglés para poder entender al cien el contenido pero pese al idioma, las demostraciones que haces en pantalla dan una idea clara de lo que trata, felicidades

Can't hear any reverb over the music... until it drops off some.

Good vid, but I find the music distracting.

How is the wifi connection to tablets when it comes to using it at gigs? I have been told that phones can interfere with it, is that the case?

Be careful, the XR12 is a gateway drug. Within weeks of getting one, I was compelled to go out and get the XR18. The 18 stays at home as a recording interface, unless needed as a PA system board when the X32 is too much, and the 12 travels with me as a "direct box with benefits" when I play bass or acoustic guitar. I can send a fully produced signal to FOH.
Having used the X32 mixer for some time now, the XR series felt like home right away.

Hey friends, anyone having the XR12 have used the 1/4 plug inputs to connect microphones? since this mixer only has 4 XLR inputs I was wondering that could not be enough for me, but I think I can connect mics on the plug inputs with an adapter or 1/4Plug - XLR cable. Do you know if there would be some kind of issues doing this? thanks for any information
