I lived in Arnhem and worked in the old German airdefense bunker Diogenes around 2000.
Had the honour to give a tour through the bunker to a group of veterans of market garden.
When i asked them about the acuracy of the movie they chuckled. " there are some things they allmost had right." was the reaction.

An excellent and underrated film. Juggles multiple storylines and characters and without confusing or boring audiences. At the heart of this epic film is a very real cry against war, all while being entertained by a truly epic cast of great screen talent. I look forward to adding this upgrade to my library!

Oh wow .. I always wanted this on Blu ray, but never bought it due to the lack of special features assuming they did not care about conversion. I hope this new version is cleaned up versus the 'dirty' print used in the DVD version.

About as historical as George Washington Crossing the Rubicon when he fought Charlemagne for the crown of Grand Fenwick.

But it's a stunningly good war film. Superbly made with an amazing cast.

It's certainly an epic movie that deserves the very best presentation. It's just that it's always seemed to me to have been filmed deliberately 'soft' to give a period feel. I wonder if it will benefit that much from a 4K release? I hope so, it's a great film.
