Just how good is the evidence for Jesus? Did Jesus actually exist, and if so, did he do the things written about him? What do history and archaeology show about Jesus and the early church?

Although we have lots of evidence for the existence of Abraham Lincoln, I'm starting to suspect that he may not have actually been a vampire hunter...

Proving someone existed is a far cry from proving they were divine.

Imagine being south of Dallas, Texas 1, 000 years from now and unearthing journal entries about David Koresh.

In a few thousand years, when they finally find a fragment of paper from the 21st century, it will be the long awaited proof that Harry Potter really existed.

I got kicked out of church school to wait outside often for asking genuine questions on clear contradictions and many things not making sense. New sub!❤

The name Jesus (or Yeshua) was very common in ancient Israel. I think it's perfectly possible that the biographies of several people called Jesus (like the prophet Jesus Ben Ananias who was tortured by the Romans) got mixed up. This may have happened accidentally. It was virtually impossible to check information when the gospels were written (it was an age without the internet or mass media after all), so the writers of the gospels may simply have been confused.

There are 4, 000 religions.
45, 000 denominations of Christianity globally.
Which one is right?

*sigh* If I showed this to some of my relatives, they would most likely respond with " The devil destroyed the evidence".

I always heard that we knew more about Jesus than we ever knew about Julius Caesar. I guess I took this for granted until I actually started researching Roman history. There is an absolute wealth of details about Caesar's life and exploits. Hell, we even know what he looked like!

And the "next oldest known" fragment of the new testament is so small and so fragmented that it could easily have been from some Greek landowner's shopping list.

Your channel is so sorely needed in our society today. Too many have been lead in the wrong direction by this fictional tale in derogatory of the worship of The Allfather. Thank you for retrieving those who are lost in the wilderness.

As a 65 y.o. man, as a boy in the 60's, we all believed the end was near. During WWII, people in the U.S. sold their homes and went up into the mountains to wait for the rapture. During this 6+ decade journey, I've seen/known so many who believed "the end is near". Many of them were apparently right, as they are no longer with us. I see yesterdays babies grow out of diapers, have kids, and subscribe to the "end is near" school of belief. It is so interesting to see other people's kids grow to adulthood, and decide that they are ordained to teach "The Truth", and they collect a cult following, and, they all seem to think that all that is old... is new.
I believe, in possibilities. I believe after someone spews out what they 'believe' is 'the truth', that they could be right. But, they could be wrong. You see, I believe in possibilities. I believe it's possible, that no one knows the truth, they only believe it is. So, it is possible, that everyone is wrong, even me. What a paradox. Just don't kill anyone that doesn't share your 'beliefs', and I believe it'll work out in the end.

Your piece about the evidence we have for Washington is really rhetorically effective and well put together. So much effort presented effortlessly .

We have accounts of Hercules, Apollo and Prometheus, but we don't assume they're historical.

We have Washington’s teeth, clothes, house, and his skeleton (in tomb). We don’t have anything from Jesus.
