Federal Disability Retirement can be extremely beneficial to federal employees that are struggling to perform at least one essential duty of their position due to a diagnosed medical condition. There are four main benefits that it offers which include a monthly annuity, the ability to continue to earn creditable years of service towards your regular retirement, the option to maintain your health and life insurance and the ability to go work in the private sector and earn additional income. While most federal employees never anticipate needing to utilize this benefit, when needed it can provide a significant amount of financial security and help them get to regular retirement at 62.

The wisest thought that is in everyone's minds today is to invest in different income flows that do not depend on the government, especially with the current economic crisis around the world.Retirement doesn't come with a specific requirement, people need to understand that having a right retirement plan is ideal and can help build a financial fortitude. Also, having a financial counsellor that will guide you through every process would be good, not just any expert but a very good one!

Disability Pension denied, there reason was my doctors medical records wasn’t enough basically, even though my doctors said I was disable, plus SSDI doctors agreed, they didn’t look at Social Security decision at all. I believe they didn’t think I would pursue any legal action, knowing that I would receive some kind of pension anyway. Also they knew the only way to contest the denial was in Supreme Court. Isn’t that a huge mistake on them for not reviewing SS decision at all. Doesn't that also violate my rights.

Don’t know if anyone responds here anymore?

USPS employee
34 years service
54 years old
Out on OWCP right now, don’t think I’ll ever be able to go back.
Injured on job 2016
Reinjured in 2019 been off since with neck pain, arm shoulder pain and severe migraines (2 cervical disc fusions)
Been not getting treatment until this month. It had been almost 3 years since last treatment

Hired lawyer to handle the disability retirement, I applied for SS disability, etc

I just have no clue on what I’ll be getting when the day comes. I did get a letter from HR with my high 3 etc.

But is that it?? What’s the total I’d get monthly? This payment which goes down after a year? How can anyone live off that?

Right now on OWCP while getting treatment again it’s manageable but still this entire f n injury has ruined me financially. Not my fault at all but here I am. Pain daily and no clue how I’m gonna live financially
