I have lost my love of cooking healthy food since I began caring for my mother full time, around 4 years ago. She is moving into a nursing home next week and my first plan of action is to look after ME again! I feel like I’m starting from scratch again and my husband refuses to eat anything even remotely healthy. I need some quick healthy meals that I can throw together for myself that will get me back to a decent level of health xx

One simple idea that has helped me eat healthier, is when I shop at the grocery store is to get my items from the outer walls and areas as the aisles in the middle are mostly processed food choices.

Im living proof of this healthy balance. Because I'm not on medication at 61, is because, I look at food as my medication. Sure to eat all the colors, create a beautiful plate of God's nutrition, and once in awhile enjoy the sweets he also wants us to enjoy. Everything said in this video is common sense. It truly is not complicated at all ~

I started eating more fresh veggies and fruits with necessary added proteins and it is working well. I continue to struggle with my addiction to processed sugar foods and diet pop, but I am making progress every day. Your videos inspire and educate me. Your simple and basic recipes also help tremendously.

Dani, I recently dealt with my eating disorder. I couldn’t stop eating snacks like Smart popcorn, Hersheys kisses, etc. When I shopped for groceries, I always threw a snack in my cart and I would tell myself it was okay to do so because I eat mostly healthy\ish home cooked meals, so what’s the harm. Then, I realized I couldn’t stop snacking. One day, after a stressful incident, I immediately went to my kitchen to grab a snack. I was tired at failing. I knew if I ate the snack, I would only feel worse. I had tried so many different methods to control my eating habits. As I was about to eat, I asked myself, “Wait, why are you eating?” I had to pause and I truly had to think about why I was eating. Do you want to know what came out of my mouth, I said, “I just want to feel better.” It was my ‘ahh moment”. I didn’t realize that I was eating to feel better. I cried, and I felt compassion for myself. I didn’t understand why I was harming myself. I just needed to know why I had a food addiction. I am still working on finding ways to protect myself from stress and anxiety. Because I have a teen son who enjoys an occasional snack, I still have to keep them in the house. But I still enjoy an occasional fun food, and when I feel the temptation to eat the wrong food, I grab an apple or banana. As a recovering addict, I need to do that to keep me away from stumbling. Thank you for everything you do. 😊

Love how you focus on the foods you can add in, not take away!!

A great segment! What works for me is the 80-20 rule. Eat healthy 80% of the time and my favorites 20%. I find it best to have half of my plate with veggies along with a palm full of protein but as you stated, this depends upon an individual's activity level and requires adjustment.

I have lost 66lbs with 94 to go. I find that multiple things help me. 1. I use WW as a guide to calorie restriction and portion control since those are issues I have. 2. I have a coach who helps me with good food choices and slowly increasing exercise.I use a fitbit to help quantify my exersise. I seek out inspirational videos that are based in the healthy realm for successful weight loss and easy recipes to reach my dietary goals. I do a low carb diet...but not keto. My husband is a diabetic....so that works well for both of us.

Have always enjoyed everything about your Clean and Delicious channel. I’ll be 60 this year and have had love/hate relationship with my food my entire adult life. Thank you for explaining in a simplified manner, it really makes sense and I have definitely been a food labeler, Good food/ Bad food. The minute I tell myself I can’t have something, the more wicked my cravings seem to get!

I received a Food Saver vacuum sealer as a gift. So now I will buy a big bag of organic sweet potatoes, and/or a big bag of organic rust potatoes, bake them all, then cut in small pieces and freeze portions of them. I seal them in the vacuum bags. I do this with all kinds of cooked food now. I’ll cook a double batch of something and freeze half to use in another two weeks or so. Another good one is turkey meat. I’ll buy the 3 pound container of turkey meat cook it all with taco seasonings divide it up and freeze. I’ll Use some for that week and freeze two other pounds to use later on.

I've been a life-long dieter and tried many different things, and nothing really worked for me. But I feel I've grown wiser or gotten more educated on the subject of "dieting" and what's more important to me now is being healthy to prolong my life... hoping to not end up with something that threatens my health or longevity. I've been focused on whole food eating and I'm losing some weight, feeling more energetic, less achy. I have a long way to go but I'm enjoying how it's making me feel. However, it is confusing what you see and hear. A certain Dr. says don't eat whole grains, oats, tomatoes etc. and others such as yourself say it's ok. To my knowledge I'm not having any bad side effects 🤷‍♀. And maybe that Dr. is right about things but like you said I do what I feel is right for me and what works. And right now it's extremely better than how it was. I mean I was addicted to Starbucks, loved french-fries and pizza, occasionally ice-cream... I now avoid all that and enjoy healthy foods I make. Knowing what's in my meals makes me feel better.

I have a history of disordered eating and am focusing on fresh fruits and veggies, lean protein, and whole grains . I've stopped tracking food for now, which seems to help my mindset. Understanding, of course, everyone's needs and relationship with food is different.
Thanks for your work and content; I find the straightforward approach very helpful.

I have multiple healthy meals that my family enjoy on rotation. It makes shopping for groceries super simple and eliminates expensive experiments in the kitchen. I will try something new every few weeks to see if it makes it into the rotation.

Thank you so much for the sage advice on eating healthy. Your video came to me at the perfect time, and it reminds me of Michael Pollan's conclusion to the Omnivore's Dilemma, "Eat food, not too much, mostly plants."
