Stolen card data is $1 - $5/each. You can get more with certain cards/scenarios.

The hacker dumps off the stash, sometimes multiple times, and the risk is on the person using that data to purchase things. Some will negotiate a cut from people cashing out but some just steal card numbers over and over to sell hitting new sources.

The gift card thing he's describing was on some TV show. Thats why Best Buy or some stores ask to see your card to check to see if its a cloned card on a gift card because as amazing as this sounds, some people are lazy and didn't wipe/modify that "gift card only" part above the magstripe.

Someone stole my credit card information that way and I went to the Compton swap meet to look at the footage and they showed the clerk their ID and all. That's when I first heard of that scam... it was probably Guerilla Black ass who took it

He's a pretty intelligent guy. Very articulate and well spoken and the fraud he did with credit cards seem to be well thought out, not sure he could do it today since chips are more sophisticated than magnetic strips. I saw stuff where people would put cc info on the hotel room keys. Glad he manned up and can talk about it this way but he's a smart guy and a hustler.
