Truly one of the most disturbing scenes in film ever-the silence adds to the creepy effect

I love how people in movies throw away weapons with complete disgust when they run out of ammo. Like the gun betrayed them by not having unlimited ammo capacity.

The fact that it’s so quiet while they’re dying makes it soooo much creepier

One thing I really like about this scene is that the insects don't growl or roar. Other movies would give them some sort of freaky sound effects, but insects don't have vocal cords and are silent except for sounds they make by rubbing body parts together. If anything, the silence actually makes it all the creepier. This means that the realism actually enhances the scene.

I always love how Jack Blacks a complete berserker in this scene violently thrashing all of the mega insects in his path.

Salute to the CGI team, they made it look so realistic and equally terrifying.

This is, to this date, the most disturbing death scene I've ever watched. There's something primordially frightening about being eaten alive. Especially in this slow and agonizing manner. You can't but think about just how scared he was in his last moments, especially after his head got sucked in. Absolutelly terrifying way to go and to this day I feel very anxious when rewatching this movie and this scene comes up.

For such a wholesome guy, this was probably one of the darkest movies Jack Black ever played in.

EDIT: Yeah, about him being a wholesome guy.

This single scene somehow managed to be 10x more terrifying than most horror movies.

That's the heaviest, thickest plot armor I've ever seen in any movie. Getting shot at by an smg and not getting hit a single time

I'll never get over Andy's death scene. This specific scene is hands down one of the most disturbing I've ever seen.

Fun fact: The bug pit scene was deleted from the 1933 original film because during test screenings, the audience ran out in fear because it was so frightening. The original footage still can't be found to this day. So Peter Jackson, being a huge fan of King Kong himself, added this scene to his film in honor of the deleted scene from the original.

The most interesting part (for me) is that there are actually worms that hunt, look, and behave, just like those. They’re called blood worms, and the actually do have the extending pink thing with tons of teeth. They’re just, (thankfully) not that big, closet to the size of a normal worm. Thank the lord.

15 years later, this scene is still fucking repulsive...

I love it.

I think Andy Serkis really sells this scene. His screams of pure horror as he gets devoured are haunting. Much like Quint's death in Jaws.
