There's so many sub-plots on the books left out in the HBO series that had they dramatized all the sub-plots there would have been enough material to last many years until the final book came out.

Here we have come to where the books have left off Jon Snow and Stannis. With Jon's stabbing and the advent of the Battle of Ice, leaving an uncertain future of which way the Winds will blow.

Though there are many other events happening in Westeros and beyond, that could be covered and interesting to see. From the Purple Wedding, to intrigue in the Iron Islands, Dorne and the Vale. Including a mysterious Young Griff.

The Wildlings couldn't have fallen thousands of feet to their death off the wall as the wall itself is 700 feet tall.

Qhorin half hand did NOT order Jon Snow to execute Ygritte.
He said something along the lines of "do what is necessary" or "what is needed" or "the right thing", something along those lines.
When Jon subsequently told Qhorin that he, Jon, had not killed her, Qhorin replied that he, Qhorin, hadn't told Jon to kill her. His order was vaguer and had contained the meaning that it was up to Jon to decide "what was necessary" or "what was right" etc...
Which Jon had done. But, further, it was now up to Jon to live with what the consequences of that action might be. Including that it might get a lot of fellow Night's Watch men killed.

The novels are always, ALWAYS, far more subtle and much MUCH better than the television series scripts.

So, that's it? That's all the lore of the released "A Song of Ice and Fire" and other related books so far? Man, that was one hell of a long ride.
It's a shame things are left hanging with Jon like this, though. But I wonder what universe will you guys cover next.
