Did you know that the Queen and her sister Margaret went to visit the British city of Bedford (I used to live there), a short walk from the Corn Exchange hall? I was quite happy to learn about this visit during my time
in the UK (80's). Better yet the U S Air Force European Band played a concert in the same hall during my posting Even better, Glenn Miller's 1943-44 band played there a number of times as the venue was
sometimes used as Miller's rehearsal hall back in the day. Miller's wartime band was very much loved
by both the American airmen and the British public back then, a rock star of his time. His music is
still regarded very warmly and very highly in today's United Kingdom.

Sir may I remind you that queen Elizabeth joined the British Army in 1944 and not 1945. She also assisted her parents with war work from 1942 but was kept away from the nightly blitz in 1940/41. She did witness the German revenge rockets of the V1 and V2 both killed thousands of civilians.
