I have a very EU specific issue where I forget that Visas are even a thing and end up panicked at the last minute when I realize that no, I can't just walk into Russia with my ID.

For most countries, visas technically don't actually grant you access to the country - instead visas are prerequisites for you to show up at the border and the border agents will decide whether you're allowed in or not

I'm a bit annoyed at my government (Australia) at the moment. my step mum is Thai, and has a student visa. Her son from her previous marriage lives with his grandparents. We have been trying to get him a visa for a 1 month holiday here to get him used to the culture here, seeing it is very different to the village culture. We've been declined both times, so we're waiting until my step mum gets citizenship. Don't mind me spewing my life story :)

Cool little thing: Palestinian authority citizens (except Gaza) can travel to Jordan without paying the visa fee and can stay up to a month (I think). I mainly just use that to cross the land bridge separating jericho and jordan.

Can you do a video about consular assistance?
As both British and German citizen I technically have access to Consular assistance from 80 countries (UK, Germany, all other EU countries and all other Commonwealth countries).
I’m not sure how much help I’d get from some of those countries though.
