My son was wearing large men’s shirt at 13 and was already 6ft tall. Unless he knew she didn’t have a kid or that she didn’t live with another male, lots of assumption. I didn’t cry when I got the call telling me my mom died. Or when they told me my sister died. I waited until I was alone and cried quietly so no one know!
Everyone doesn’t experience grief the same way.

My brother in law was Kia in Helmond province Afghanistan. He lived with us when he was home. So they notified my father in law and he brought them to our house. My girls were his world. My oldest daughter was 11 l. She saw the soldiers and the sound that came from her I'll never forget. My youngest was 9. She was in shock. So my oldest told her. That was 2011. We are now divorced and my oldest will not talk to my parents or me. My x would not allow me to get counseling for the girls. I don't think my oldest ever got past it

I still remember escorting 3 of my very good friends home. It was horrible because I knew these men and their families for over 7 years and yet still feeling guilty because i wasn't with my brothers still down range. God i miss the boys. We lost so many brothers during those 20+ years. But the real kick in the nuts is that we have lost more of our brothers and sisters back here at home to their own hand. The evening before memorial day I lost my very best friend when he listened to the demons deep in the night. My heart weeps for all of my fellow warriors out there on the edge and alone. Help. Rltw.
