A humble general never thought I'd see the day.

This scene reminds me of battle of the buldge "we want your surrender" American reply "nuts"

I'm sure Hopkins would've done a fine job of saying that line but somehow the other guy saying it just fits perfectly. He says it loud, brash and sarcastic in a way a German soldier would genuinely not understand in that context.

It was absolutely the best line in the whole movie / the conversation on the bridge. It was straight out if a Monty Python skit. Lol hilarious

It’s an incredible scene and sums up the British spirit perfectly; we are sarcastic, and the worse things are, the more we’ll downplay them with good humor, while holding an umbrella and drinking tea.

It was the best line in the movie "...we haven't the proper facilities to take you all prisoner. Sorry"

The British 1st Airborne got hammered in Market Garden. 8000 casualties out of 12, 000.

You should do Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood … we’ve always found the historical setting really fascinating as well as the character of Robin Hood

They also wanted the "get moving scene " to be "alright, CHARGE!"

But he just said what was actually said

What about All quiet on the western front? (Whatever version you want, preferably 1979)

I think the moment played out better as was in real life. The crass go to hell followed by the typical dry wit infusion with British politeness is comical.

Would like to see your thoughts on The Sea Wolves. The 1981 movie with Roger Moore. Didn’t know it was based on a true story.
