Trashing My Concept Art Portfolio

Yeah I am trashing my portfolio because it is not helping me get a job because my portfolio is more tailored for a 2D general artist for and indie game. Which isn’t really what I want to do because concept art is my passion and what I want to pursue as a career. So enjoy watching me rip my portfolio apart! :D

Hey! I’ve just discovered your channel (through your Character Design Process series) and I’ve got to say, I think I’m in love.

I know you’ve made a video about breaking away from boring art, but if you ever have the chance, would it be possible to get a video on spicing up a character design? Perhaps discussing what aspects make a design interesting and the likes.

Either way, thanks again, and keep up the amazing content!

Just getting into character design myself, I have no idea WHY it took me THIS LONG to realize building characters and their back stories was such a mental passion I'd find. Still tryin to figure how to even start
Edit Hopefully you save the "trash" as a looking back point for one day! Keep it! Its dopee

mood! i need to fix my portfolio as well! i tend to avoid character art for my portfolio but weirdly i like character design and my sketchbooks are full with them. i also forget to make my portfolio for a hypothetical game and just do general world building stuff because i'm so used to making comics

5:40 Could you possibly elaborate on the distinction here? I’ve struggled to find examples of visdev character sheets which aren’t in the popular cartoony or anime styles and personally I haven’t seen anyone talk about a semi-realistic visdev niche. I assumed concept art was the way to go for designing characters in a more realistic style?

Out of curiosity, did you do Game Art rather than Concept Art for your degree? I’m trying to choose between unis for September and those are the course titles I have to choose from.

Thank you for sharing your experience and good luck with building your new portfolio! :)

Might try branching to 3d character, animation or 3d environmental art. Given how AI could completely take over concept art in the near future. It's never too late to learn something new.
