I love the random commentary from the guy on the right: "Atlantis just leaps off the launch pad like a scared cat riding a tower of orange flame and white smoke..." lol

It's a shame that I will never get to experience this in person. Such power, such elegance... The pinnacle of human technology.

I know, RIGHT? This guy is the ONLY guy on youtube (I've checked) who managed to get good audio from a shuttle launch. All others clip and just sound like roaring static. A shuttle launch should sound like a series of distinct concussive explosions in rapid succession.

Excellent Video; Notice: Starting @ around 0:53 seconds, Shadow of space shuttle exhaust trail on the clouds after STS flies through the clouds as it continues upward!...T UP~  Absolutely one of the best out of 135 STS launches!

Done this for several people just to see their reactions. Every single one of them had a big stupid grin on their faces from about 35 seconds in. Awesome, awesome stuff. The sound is perfect, NO clipping!

I regret never being there for a shuttle launch but this video makes you feel like you are really there.  Nice job Mr. Morioka.  I can't wait for SLS with Orion.  I want to plan a trip to see one of those launches in person.

He's referring to the shadow that the smoke trail is casting on the clouds. The gravity turn is performed a little higher, and you can see from the shadow that it's path is curving away from the camera (as opposed to the left).

Look at the shadow on the cloud when it breaks through the cloud layer!

Check out the shadow that the trail beyond the clouds cast to the left o.O. Judging by the sun's angle and the time of day, it's length is incredible! And what a sound! ... wish I was there!

Sending a man into space was the most advanced thing man kind ever did. Its been about 40 years, lets do something the entire world can watch again.

I can remember watching my first shuttle launch, sometime in 96 I think it was. It was, immense.
