What Should I Pair With My Ball Python: How To Plan Breeding

Many people question what morph top pair their ball python with. There are a few variables to consider when planning a breeding season and we're going to go over them along with some basic genetics from one of my pairings as an example. This video will get you on the path to figuring out what goes best with your snake.

I love when you mention that normals are not all a single gene! It’s how you get such amazing variation among “normals” and why I still consider them very unique and beautiful. My girl has gorgeous gold alien heads on a brown background with lots of blushing up the sides, but I’ve seen plenty that have brown alien heads on a black background with almost no blushing, and everything in between. Normals are still very cool in my book.

If you wanted to explain what genetics the parents would throw, i thought you'll end up showing us a punnet square, but your example with the colored chromosomes and the genes on little stick notes was really descriptive and easy to follow, thank you for that! Im into genetics, but even for beginners i consider this quite helpful.
I have a female enchi-pastel-fire-spider i would pair up in some years with a banana-calico (maybe pastel).

Thanks for the video. So funny, I watch it and think yeah this is so simple and then I go searching for my favorite morphI(s) and that’s when I start....ooo I like that one, and that one, and oh that one is super cool. And I’m like, Okay I gotta focus on what I could pair with what I already have. Then it’s like I could do this or that or this. Then I go looking and I find what I thought I wanted and (oops, I don’t have that kind of dough). Back to the drawing board I go. I’m just being silly but...

Thanks! You’re great at explaining things. And you are funny. I might breed my balls. I have a pastel. My boy is just normal. But my hubby is taking me to a reptile place today. Maybe I will find a neat morph male. Dunno if they sell well. I see lots of people selling balls and it seems like they don’t move very fast. Normal balls disappear. I think it’s because they are more affordable for a lot of people. The pieds and more expensive ones don’t seem to go quickly. But I am only doing research for now. I don’t want to fail if I try this.
