Really good video. Barking and need for new activities is something you don't hear about as much.

I’ve had quite a few large breed dogs. Doberman, German, Shepherd, malamute, and several Drahthaars (German wire hair pointers) None of those dogs were as smart as my standard poodle. He was five months old when I got him and had had some socialization with kids and other dogs but basically no training. The day I got him I told him to stay out of the kitchen twice and that’s all it took. Very seldom does he bark. And this is shocking: he seems to have natural watchdog and guard dog instincts. He is not hyper at all. We have a 5 acre orchard grass pasture, and he makes good use of his time out there. Other than a greyhound I had for a short while he is by far the fastest dog I’ve ever had. He loves his toys and hasn’t damaged anything. My wife is crazy about him which is awesome. The hypoallergenic and non-shedding qualities are also awesome. Not bragging about this dog is very difficult. He’s very gentle and loving. We are crazy about this dog 😂

My standard is a saint. He is very quiet. Loves everyone, super friendly with other dogs visits the neighbors and is more like a human than dog.

My standard is the best dog I’ve ever owned. She only barks when something is wrong, she watches the kids. Benefits of having a big dog without knocking over my toddler and fun enough to play with my 8 year old. Super active when we are ready, knows when she is supposed to chill. The most emotionally intuitive dog I’ve ever owned. They are tender hearted meaning you don’t need to yell or get frustrated with them-it will effect them greatly. Build confidence as a puppy and you’ll be fine. They spook easily but recover quickly if you have properly socialized your dog🤍

There is an "oodle" type of every dog. Labradoodle, Goldendoodle, etc. Just get a poodle! Wonderful companion. Just the best.

I love my standard poodle! These 7 reasons honestly were things I was concerned about before taking a leap of faith. I'm glad I did because Blu completes our family. I have a toddler and the two are partners in crime at the house. Blu hardly barks except when he sees certain people walking near our house. Just the other day I had the front window open. The neighbor's dogs were in the front barking at my son and Blu. My son usually yells loudly at barking dogs and Blu was right beside him barking at them. At least for my standard poodle, he's a good workout partner. He's the reason I started going out for walks. Over time I learned how to groom my poodle. It is time-consuming and I used to pay for him to be groomed when I was working on my master's. I think it worked out for us because my husband and I work from home and the kids keep Blu busy.

I have had three standard poodles throughout my life. One black, one white, and one red. I have had zero issues with any of them. They don't bark, they're not aggressive, they're clean, they're smart, they're very affectionate, very goofy. I cannot imagine having another breed of dog.

As a breeder of standards who genuinly wants puppies in forever homes I find this video very on point in regards to a.poodles needs. They want to be a family member and interact, they wont cope being a dog who is only there for the occasional interaction. They are super fast learners and can be trained to fit a family dynamic easily but they also have self respect and do actually expect to be part of the family not a side addition.

My poodle puppy is my first dog. I do not regret getting him at all - so smart, so sweet, very quiet, very polite, loves playing with kids and meeting other humans. You don't have to, but I have made some videos to record his life.

Agree with the video, we spend £60 every 6 weeks on grooming. We walk her for around 1hour -1:30 hours a day.
She goes to daycare on Friday and her morning walks we have a group so she can see her friends.

The separation anxiety and noise can be helps with training but also with choosing the right breeder, ours mothers was rever calm and relaxed at home if she'd been walked and it was a trait she passed down.
I would highly recommend poodles for people but remember you get out what you put in.

I love the one where they say a poodle may not be for you because they are very smart…so what’s the “dumbest” dog in the world like 🤣🤣

It's true that Miniature and Toy Poodles are loud, but Standards are actually quiet. I have had 2 SPoos working as my Service Dogs. People would comment on how quiet they were. Not because of my training, but because of them! Don't let noise factor be the deciding factor for you, at least for a STANDARD Poodle!

I've always had dogs. By far the best, calmest dog I've ever had was a standard poodle. (Her poodle mother was great, too.) Any smart owner can train a dog not to bark needlessly. The only legit "disadvantage" of a poodle is they need grooming BUT they also don't shed. They're hypoallergenic. The trade off is grooming but it's worth it to me.

I never brush my poodles, they don't need it. Mine go for a haircut three or four times a year. Yep they want to walk with you. I have never had a destructive poodle and I leave mine alone all day while I go to work. They love going for rides. They are happy with one owner or a family. Great with all people ages. Very gentle dog. My poodles were all quiet - only barked when someone came to the door. Train them like any dog. Very intelligent, easy to train, and love the praise of doing the right thing, they live to please.
