I've always been a fan of the 86 and BRZ (particularly the 86) so its welcoming to see that Toyota and Subaru got together again to make a second generation. I'd absolutely consider buying a GR 86!

"They actually sold more than they anticipated " I love it !! And thank you for being transparent and super honest . I have the toyota 86 2017 but I'm leaning towards the brz this time around. I'll see when I test drive it between the two.

So glad Subaru is still catering to the sports car community. After what they’ve done to the WRX I was really worried!

Watched this as soon as I got home from work. As a former BRZ owner (2013 Limited with minor mods) I'm very excited to see and drive this car. It sounds like much of, if not all of the first gen car's ailments have been rectified, and as much as I'd miss my SVX, I'm seriously considering parking a new one in the driveway. Informative and well presented as always Ryan.

I've had my 2022 Limited since November. I'm getting 30 mi to the gallon. I absolutely love this car!

Everyone notches about the back seat being too small. It, you have to realize that in a pinch, the backseat is useable for short distances if necessary. It’s good to know that I can give a few people a ride if necessary. You can’t do that with this car’s main competition, the Miata.

Great review. I've been waiting for a reliable, fun to drive, affordable sports car. I hope Subaru sells this car without any added price increases.

I like the appearance of this generation. It looks more mature but still keeps that sporty look.

Good price! I got my 2019 BRZ Limited manual with performance package (Sachs dampers, Brembo brakes) for only 29 so I am hoping in a few years that will still be the case.

People gotta understand that a 2006 Subaru wrx came with 230 hp. So because of the fact this is naturally aspirated and make the same power as a turbocharged 2.5 liter engine is impressive

So glad that I'm buying another BRZ. I have a 2017 and will take delivery of a 2023 shortly. Thanks for the review, you have detailed the suspension differences better than any other channel so far.

The BRZ has grown on me and I've honestly taken a greater liking to it over the 86. Mostly since I've watched numerous videos of it with all of the accessories you can get from Subaru/STI.

Crazy to think this car has one more advertised hp than a 2002 WRX even though it makes less torque. I'm curious if Subaru will once again offer a TS version with the Brembo brakes.

Closest thing to a fun affordable 'sports car' we got in India (in very limited quantity) was the last gen Octavia vRS for about 55000$ post taxes. Hope we get fun cars like these which do not a bomb.

One of the best review I've seen about this car so far, thank you! To me this is the perfect and best looking car for about 30k considering all the extra taxes here in Italy.. Want one so bad!

Great review, and that TPMS perk is bonus with the 3 sets of wheels/tires I have for my MY14. The differences are really fascinating between the GR86 and BRZ.

Excellent review, Ryan. And kudos for at least giving the old college try in the back seat. I know it's cramped. But having owned a Mazda RX-8, it's not much worse. (Though the Mazda provided hidden rear doors that improved access.) And for me the BRZ (and GR 86) offers a huge advantage over a Miata and other sports cars with room for only two passengers. Specifically, the back seat provides a spot for my large dog. That means I can share drives with my wife (or daughter) and "Fido." He's very appreciative of that. (Yeah, I know that few consumers consider the accommodations for a 4 footed passenger but at least from their commercials it appears that Subaru understands my family's eccentric ways.)

As for the obvious question about of the GR 86 vs the BRZ, I'd give a slight edge to the Subaru. In terms of styling, the BRZ's rear end is less busy and (to my eye) more attractive. And since I put many more miles on mountain roads around Mt. Rainier than on a track (where I prefer 2 wheels to 4), the advantage you cite in terms of stable handling trumps the "toss-ability" of the Toyota. When each vehicle manages to find their way to the PNW, I'll be looking seriously.
