Discrete alarms, also called contact closures, are the alarm points that describe binary conditions, such as "Yes or No", "ON or OFF", or "Opened or Closed". Many equipment at remote telecom sites have discrete alarms, so to keep an eye on them, it's important to have visibility over them.
This visibility can be achieved with a efficient remote monitoring system. One of the most common data transmission methods for network monitoring is Ethernet (or LAN). In other words, it's via Ethernet that monitoring information will reach you in a timely manner.
But, how can contact closures be sent to you via Ethernet?
In this video, Andrew will explain how this can be done.
