“So the laser is gonna remove the tattoo?”

“Nah mate, it’s just feeding the tattoo to your blood.”

I’ll tell you, it hurts more to get a tattoo removed than to get one. Those lasers are brutal.

“Have you ever wondered how a tattoo is removed?”

“Nope but I’m ready to hear it”

EDIT: Adding this to the beginning so it's easier to see.
There's a myth that the ink from the tattoo never leaves your body and just stays either in your blood or liver forever. This isn't true, and just like any other substance it will eventually be excreted even if it takes a long time. It IS true that following a laser tattoo removal, most of the ink will end up in the liver and even stain it the colors of the tattoo, but over time it will end up in bile produced by the liver and excreted into the digestive tract. The rest will be filtered by the kidneys and peed out. The ink closest to the surface of the skin will also likely just sweat out once it's broken down small enough to fit through the ducts.

The tattoo fading over time (literally decades) is because while the ink is too big for your white blood cells to completely eat away, they'll slowly chip at it over time, absorbing small amounts until it starts to lighten. However, only macrophages are capable of doing so - the much more common neutrophils can't until it's broken down by the laser.

Something that didn't get addressed in the video: the reason the tattoo immediately gets lighter when hit by the laser is because it also causes the pigmentation molecules in the ink to break down through photoreactive processes. This is also why red ink is the hardest to break down - the laser uses a similar wavelength of light to the color of the pigment, resulting in the light simply reflecting off of it.

If you don't get a tattoo, you won't have to worry about getting a tattoo removed. Simple.

Thats totally right but these smaller ink particles are just transported away from the skin. They cant leave the body. The particles end up in the liver and colorize the flesh in the color of the tattoo…
