I’m a right winger but I’ll vote for Sanders if he sticks to his guns on foreign policy and actually takes on the NEOCONS

Bernie's style reminds me of what I learned Abraham Lincoln was like when he wanted to connect with people of different views and how he chose his worlds carefully in order to get a listening ear to his sense of Righteousness.

The scene in the movie that comes to mind is when President Lincoln is speaking to Senator Theadus Stephen about the 13th Amendment and what they both agreed on was True as to what Freedom and Equality meant and how to get there.
Here it is:
"A compass I learnt when I was surveying, it’ll… it’ll point you true north from where your standing, but it’s got no advice about the swamps, deserts and chasms that you’ll encounter along the way. If in pursuit of your destination, you plunge ahead heedless of obstacles, and achieve nothing more than to sink in a swamp, what’s the use of knowing true north?"

In other words Bernie is leading us through some trouble times and his navigation skills takes into account persuadable minds along the way.

Just saying.

I agree strongly with the thoughts around 12:30. That was my biggest reservation about him.

Senator Sanders has spoken extensively about foreign policy for decades. See the speech posted from 20 years ago.
Any criticism of Bernie is ridiculous. He has devoted his working life to the best interests of our People, nation and the
greater good of the world. THAT is the Real News.

this is why I like the real news, they take anybody to task for what they say, even Bernie

Thank You! I've been very concerned, for a log time, about his reticence about our foreign policy, his brief and blase discussion of our military criminality around the world AND here at home, and even his hawkishness. WE ignore our popular leaders faults at OUR peril!

mlk jr is still the gold standard for ethics imo, post protestant reformation, edging toward mahayana-ism, Bernie is definitely going in the right direction

Bernie was right to campaign on his strength and not Hillary's. That campaign isover and the timing of this speech was right.

I think it is great to have a thorough critical debate about politics and politicians but geez - no one is perfect - he got there - and a lot more quickly than most of these a-holes in office. I don't mind the crit - as long as people don't discourage others like him to run because they might not say exactly what everyone wants to hear at the exact moment they want to hear it. One of Bernie's greatest attributes is his ability to listen and to act on what he is hearing from regular people.

Bernie took his time and did his homework on foreign policy first. He took a long look at all the intricacies and nuances that come with this subject.

During the antiwar movement of the Vietnam War, it was the unity of people all over the world that really made the difference in finally bringing that terrible war to an end. We need that same perception among people everywhere that the wars being waged now in the Middle East and Africa are immoral, illegal, and unjustified. There has to be more information presented to the public about the truth of what is happening in these countries.
