2005 Ford Escape Replace Alternator Without Removing Drive Shaft

This will work with all 4 cylinder Escapes. It can coast up to 1200$ for this job, depending on where you live an dthe coast of things there. Most of you know what a b!tch it is to replace an alternator on a Ford Escape, otherwise, I'm just guessing now, you wouldn't have sought out this type of video. Well rest assured chum I've never met, it's actually quite easy, just takes a lot of patience. If I can do it, so can you. The problem is the black plastic shield that surrounds the alternator. I couldn't remove it when alternator was still in place. I had to wiggle it around, once I had the alternator bolts removed, in the back of the engine space, that is there. You have to remove that shield to get the alternator out. The shield is necessary for cooling of the alt, without it, the alt will overheat, so don't get rid of it. Got my alternator out the top! It took me 5hrs.

My son and I did it this way. Was a real pita but we did it. The other way removing the axle would have broke other stuff and didn’t really have tools or know how. Whoever decided was good idea to put alternator under the engine needs a good kick in the nards.

If you pull the belt and first two shields off the alternator then unbolt it from the engine and remove the back shield as well as the heat shield from the exhaust manifold and the long threaded top stud. IT WILL COME OUT EASILY.

NOTE. Reinstall the exhaust shield before you bolt the alternator back up.

You're definitely gonna need a alignment after and all that. Probably.. it seems to me that he couldn't get it out and made up some ridiculous story that I took it in half magically missed the best part and the only part we need to see the only useful what would have been useful if you had a very good imagination seem to be missed that's what five minutes I'll never get back in my life

Question, So it seems 2005 and older can come out the top on all the vids, but 2006 and older they can't or have to remove the axle. Am i right?

The 4 cylinder alternator is removable from the top. It ain't easy but I've done it. Mine was 2002
