It would be nice if we could vote directly for the larger EU parties, rather than local representitives.

Is it just me, or is the voting system kinda meh?

Personally, I want to vote for Renew Europe but I am bound by the party in my country that joined the group.
What if I do not like the party in my country that is connected to the respective European one?
Grind my teeth and choose only one of the two?
Sucks big time.

Why not give me the ability to directly vote for European parties?

the funny thing is that the inhabitants of remote areas such as Saint Pierre and Miquelon, French Polynesia, Wallis and Futuna and New Caledonia will also participate in the European elections.

I personally dislike the indirect voting system. Not only I have access to only 3 out of 8 parties (EPP, S&D, ECR). I also need to deal with parties in my country changing their names and structure (like anyone else's country btw.). This change doesn't give me a 100% assurance what EU parliament they are going to align with until I see a ballot or actively observe them on, for example the internet. Direct voting would solve many problems like this and problem of some votes being worth like 0.98 of itself because population to votes ratio simply cannot be 100% accurate when number of seats isn't equal to voters (vote in Cyprus'll be more worth than in France for example).

i wish they taught our society in my country more about this! we have so many people frustrated with the EU and they don’t know they can literally vote for people who represent their interests in the EU Parliament… and now it feels like nobody even knows this election is taking place

What annoys me the most with the current system is that I need to vote for a national party that I don't agree with to vote for an eu parliament. Then the national parties brag about the confidence they received and empowerment they get in local matters

In my opinion we should vote for the eu panties at an eu level choosing the people from our country that represent us regardless of membership or affiliation to local parties

The European elections in Bulgaria will definitely be on the 9th of June because elections are always on Sunday.
Also, voting here is technically "mandatory", but there are no fines or repercussions.

1:40 the whole island of Cyprus minus the British Bases is recognised as part of the republic of Cyprus (🇨🇾) even if the government doesn't have control over the northern part ofcupied by Turkey.

Also, Turkish Cypriots who reside in the odxupied part do vote in EU elections as long as tehy are citisens of the republic of Cyprus. In fact, one of the 6 Cypriot MEP is a Turkish Cypriot
