Question- Can you get Cyanide Poisoning from Flaxseeds?
Quick Answer – NO!
This has been coming up because of some provocatively titled posts on this, but when the study was done, it was found that people had to eat a FULL CUP of flaxseeds on a completely empty stomach to get the barest detectable blood level of cyanide. Now, It is unlikely that anyone is eating a full cup of flax or more on an empty stomach. And even if they are, they likely don’t have a detectable blood level of cyanide.
More importantly, NO ONE had any symptoms of cyanide toxicity even with the full cup of seeds.
MOST importantly, I have helped thousands of people all over the world reverse and heal from otherwise incurable diseases using hyper-nourishment which includes high amounts of flaxseeds (1/2 cup a day or more), and not one person has ever gotten poisoned.
The results speak for themselves.
So no, you won’t get cyanide poisoning from flaxseeds. But you might become healthier than you have ever been. And if you don’t like flax, use chia 😉

0:36 1Kg ground flaxseeds = *ACUTE* cyanide toxicity
That's *A LOT* of cyanide from that small amount of flaxseeds!

I must say that ingesting alot of flax is easy if you make a smoothie of drink flax milk. Second, the study showed cyanide blood levels from flaxseed consumption to be at the accepted *toxicity* threshold, not at *detection* threshold as you state. However the do suggest that toxicity thresholds may be inaccurate as in most poisoning the real peak cyanide blood concentration is much higher, due to measurement taking place after it falls, as symotoms appear. In addition to that, even fatal doses may be tolerated by the body if they are spread out over time, like what happens with the slow release of cyanide from ground seeds. The possible conclusion here is that the peak blood level matter, not the total ingested amound in a 24hr window. The study does however stress that more studies need to be performed and that minor increases in ingested amounts may lead to clinical symptoms (due to overwhelming of the body's detoxification systems).
Now we have gotten that out of the way. There ate studies looking at long term, small dose cyanide ingestion. Like would happen if someone would eat flax seeds everyday. They show (in rats) a plethora of only adverse affects that include diabetes and cancer.

hellow my dear.

I am a follower of the scientific topics you raise and an admirer of your high culture. My question is, can we eat flax bread daily and forever without being exposed to cyanide poisons? Best regards.

Hi Dr G, I'm dignose with (SLE) Lupus and we don't have kale and spinach here in my country. It's all import from overseas because it can't grow here. So is it okay if I use frozen spinach for my smoothie?? Or any other fresh Green Vegetables I can use apart from kale and spinach??

Hey DR Brooke Goldner, can flaxseed or chia seed thin the blood ? I thought I might of heard this somewhere and because im already on blood thinners because of a blood clot I was wondering if I should maybe put less in a smoothie? thanks.

1:02 This seems dishonest. They could see cyanide ingestion even with a single tablespoon of flax (what I would consider a "blip"). The 60 and 100g reached levels "possibly associated with first clinical symptoms of intoxication". While the patient didn't show any clinical symptoms, that doesn't necessarily mean ingestion in these amounts are safe, especially on a daily basis.

Thanks for your sharing! 😅
I have just known that flaxseeds contained cyanide today 😱. Yet I have been taking flaxseed for years almost everyday. Don't know what should I do until I watch this. Then, i don't need to worry about taking flaxseeds. 😂❤❤
