Is This our Next MMO? (Riot FPS MMO)

Today, we're taking a look at Necrit's video, diving into the rumored MMO FPS being developed me Riot, codenamed Project T. Some are saying this could be a 1 to 1 competitor to Destiny 2. Could this be the game we all call home if the worst case scenario happens and D2 dies?

Destiny NEEDS competition. WIth no competition there is no real incentive to improve anything.

D2 DLC is beyond fair reason. It's the entire reason why all my friends can't continue D2. Too many things to buy, too many things to pay on top of irl stuff. The longer you don't play Destiny, the more expensive the game becomes.

Love or hate Riot, they could pull this off. Riot has a proven track record (even if you don't like them) of successful live service games. They also actually have the capital to prototype games long-term and the name recognition to pop off. We joke about destiny 2 killers but if Riot actually does this, and Bungie doesn't change, Riot could put D2 in the dirt. Or at least provide real competition

RIOT knows how to nail the fundamentals of game design. I have no doubt that an MMO FPS made by them would be a rock solid entry into the genre.

League of legends has 117 million active monthly players if they get 10% of that player base to play their new game it would be a success

If they bring up a FPS MMO with Magic Abilities we would maybe see the first direct competitor for Destiny.
If we get a decent gunplay i would give it a try. But I don't think that any developer would try to bring PvE and PvP under the same umbrella of gameplay without seperating those 2 too much, like Bungie did with Destiny.
But I'm ok with this if it catches me the same way D1 did when I created my first character.🙈

People that are completely against a subscription model are just kinda blind. We've already been on a subscription model but it's just been named "annual expansions" and "season passes". Like, homie, that's a fucking subscription.

“Why doesn’t Destiny have an anime???” Because Riot has filthy amounts of cash, where as Bungie currently doesn’t. Not on this level, it was spent on cars remember? From that super expensive skin they sold for Ahri, the Riot whales have been funding that company for decades, so they can make a fighting game, puzzle game, gacha game, MMO whatever and the fanbase will flock. If they make a looter shooter next and it’s class base with skins, it’s over for the competition. Because what’s one region Riot games are most loved in: China. Speaks for itself. Riot has always been a competition killer, they’re just making noise now and people are just now hearing them

I don't think a subscription is the answer. I think content access should just work like Final Fantasy XIV or ESO. Every time they release a new expansion it becomes the only expansion you need to buy to get everything. You get access to all previous expansions if you buy the current one. So if they release a new expansion every year they still get their money every year from their regular players and if a new player wanted to get in all they have to do is pay like $60 for the most recent expansion and they have access to everything. It makes so much sense.

D2 obviously has a lot of cleanup work to do. Imo, everything before WQ needs to be free. There should be a campaign playlist where you can go from Red War through TFS doing just campaign missions, where Red War through Beyond Light is all free. There's your new player onboarding

Personally I think this should have been D2's pricing:
* Current expansion deluxe edition (or maybe even the base): contains all previous expansions
* Expansion legacy pack: all previous expansions except the current for something like $10-20 (this is a cheap entry point for players unsure if they want to jump fully in)

If you pay $8-$9 month, that's about what players pay already to get all the content the game offers. I think that's completely fair.

Subscription based is where Destiny should of gone years ago. A huge problem for people trying to come back is like you said "what do I play? I want to do everything I missed." People are wild saying they wouldn't pay 8-9 a month for D2 access. That would have access to the entire game. I feel it would of allowed people to play more at various points instead of dropping $100 annually. Either way Bungie would still be gaining that $100 a player if they're hooked. But its all in the past now it doesn't matter.

This and Light No Fires are the future. Just wait. Those two games will carry us until FromSoft and Miyazaki do some Magnum Opus sh!t.

22:56 this is what ESO does, and it’s why I played ESO for 4 years straight.
They have the option to outright buy the expansions, or pay a monthly subscription. Its brilliant

i’m gonna be honest, and i’ve been thinking about this A LOT recently (especially after those layoffs) Destiny 1+2 was just the beginning. Bungie might not keep the train going, but someone else will. This is the first real FPS MMO we had, and yeah it was rough, it was missing so much at the start, and still is, but Bungie didn’t make MMOs before this, so it makes sense. Here’s to hoping we are all playing an amazing FPS MMO one day, and we can look back and say we were a part of the first one ever.

Even with regular updates, Destiny will lose players. It's time for some competition.

What Bungie NEEDS to do in order to the make new/f2p player experience better (I heard from articles that they were attempting to retry that) is to actually show what each expansion has to offer. Having a gazillion expansions and little to no information other than very briefly showing the gear and different screenshots of the expansion doesn’t cut it.

They need to show EXACTLY what is being provided on the store page and with ease, if they want to show off the weapons, make a video quickly showcasing the individual weapons. A raid should be SPECIFICALLY mentioned so they don’t need to look through several expansions trying to figure out which one they need to but in order to raid with their friends.

They also need to condense the amount of content. Dungeons should really just be sold all together or just apart of that annual expansion. Since Bungie likes Dungeon keys so much, maybe a single dungeon key is provided with an expansion and allows the unlocking of any dungeon of their choosing.
