The TrimUI Smart (non-Pro) is a dead ringer for the size of the GBA Micro, but with a larger screen and four face buttons so it can play SNES as well. Dirt cheap, boots in 6 seconds flat, and with MinUI, auto saves your game on shutdown and auto loads on boot up so you always start right where you left off. It doesn't have the flashy chic quality of metal, but if you want something that disappears into your pocket and is always right there when you need it, that's what I would be going for these days.

yes, because it actually wasnt the best. it was a pain to hold and to look at for longer periods of time, the l and r buttons were especially painful.
the sharp picture was technically cool, and it was fun for what it was meant to be, a cool keychain, but definitely not worth its price then or now.

It looks great, but the screen size is why it failed. The buttons are slightly smaller too, so it's kind of a gimmick device.

I bought the 20th Anniversary edition and black/silver together on a Black Friday special just before these were discontinued, like $50USD each. Stocked away the Famicom version and still playing the black/silver; currently keeps me company while I park my car waiting for rideshare customers on my phone's app. No issues with the EZ-Flash Omega or its saves; Definitive edition added rumble and gyro, I think.

The Micro was perfect for my mom and her "Tetris" addiction. Sadly, her Game Boy Micro stopped working a while ago. But at least it cured her Tetris addiction

Personally speaking I would say that the 3DS is the best Nintendo handheld as it's compatible with pretty much everything that came before.

A request though if I may but could you turn down the background music that plays when you are talking to camera, as it is that bit too loud and becomes distracting.

I can totally relate to not bringing your Gameboy Micro outside, because it's too valuable. I even kinda feel that way with a GBA or NDS even though they aren't as high priced as a GBM. But getting something in good condition if your unit gets lost is quite a hassle and still can get pricey. Pretty much the reason why I only take Emulation Handhelds with me.

Nintendo's worst console was also its biggest success. Nintendo Wii was the only bad mainline Nintendo console that saw mass production. It was so bad that nobody bought the follow-up Wii U which was actually a phenomenal platform.

i just got the 8-bit-do micro controller. i wonder how many games i can play with it that usualy need more buttons. definetley RE4 and Metal Gear Solid.

I remember them being steeply discounted since it seemed like no one was buying them. Reviews highlighted how bright and sharp the screen was... But I got a PSP after my SP died.

I owned a Gb advance and loved that console. I played it a lot while I was in the military, though the micro is cool, I have large palms and because of that the smaller consoles make my hands hurt. I bought a play all retro games console and I am happy to play all the retro games in a way that doesn’t hurt my hands. Though I would love it if Nintendo released a play all retro games console, I know it will never happen. Great video!

Honestly if Nintendo just re-sold the gameboy micro just on their website with no changes it would absolutely sell out. Hell they can re-release physical NES carts with no changes and it'll sell out, I don't get why they don't just cash in on the retro collecting community. Also Imagine how crazy it would be if the re-release they gba pokemon games. So many opportunities to make so much more money but they dont do anything with it. Please Nintendo, I dont want to pay hundreds for a micro and for gba pokemon games

I think these days the Game Boy Micro is mostly a collectors item. I've never understood why anyone would want one. The screen is tiny, it doesn't support backwards compatibility, and doesn't work with many peripherals. Like, if you're going to make an argument for the Game Boy Advance as Nintendo's best handheld, ok, sure. But the Micro specifically? I don't get it at all.

The biggest problem with the gameboy micro is that’s it’s a gameboy advance micro.

I love my Nintendo Switch but it would be awesome to see Nintendo release a Gameboy like device, one made specifically to play Switch online games(personally I think that would be the only reason Nintendo would make it) especially for $100 to mainly get people to sign up for switch online
