As a PNW new pilot(in instrument training now), love seeing my local area on your videos!

As an interested private pilot theses scenarios and narration are gold! I already own 2 aircraft but can not legally pilot them. One day several years from now maybe or maybe not. Auctions are looming.

I can’t express how valuable these videos are for me in my training. I have a suggestion though. I think it would be helpful for anyone struggling with the extra workload that is IFR radio communications if you did a video exactly like this, but instead of responding as the pilot, you give the viewer enough time to respond on our own, out loud. So you role play ATC, and we (the viewers) role play the pilot. Then in the description you could have the transcription of both ATC and the proper responses for the pilot. Just a suggestion. Thanks so much for all your hard work.

As an Instructor, your use of proper terminology _must_ be impeccable. You _must_ set a proper example in everything that you do and admit/correct when you make an error. Words like "thirtyfivehundred", "twelvehundred", and phrases like "...short of 35..." (vice " _holding short_ of 35" should never leave your mouth when instructing. Your student will pick up enough bad habits on their own without your help. No sense teaching them incorrectly.

4:45 Why a parallel entry for hold in lieu? It's a little faster but a teardrop gives you longer to become established on course, particularly if you are shooting the approach with a tailwind.

Curious why you cancel ifr when cleared for the approach?

In the last video we were about to fly the ILS circling into Olympia. Did I miss something, or did the videos get posted in the wrong order?

Stupid question: I have practiced in sim left and right traffic patterns (like for touch and go). We're supposed to enter 45def on the downwind leg.
What I don't understand is WHEN do I approach an airport like this? Should I always just use the IFR approach plates if they exist? Is even using a standard pattern allowed if there are approach plates for the airport? Do busy airports allow simple standard downwind leg entry approaches? Just can't get when to use what... any help is appreciated.
