It's very unusual when a question takes Dave by surprise like this, I appreciated the honesty!

My issue with this, is the fact that he’s been married less than a year and considering paying off all of her debt, i have no idea how long they where together before that but it sounds like a red flag to me

Whoa! I just talked to my husband about us doing this over the weekend. Don't like the house or neighborhood anymore plus a good way to pay off our debt. But not living with parents or family 😕🤷🏾‍♀️😊

I won’t sell my house either to clear the debt. Budget and pay off the debt, there is a lesson to be learnt in the process for her.

Just eat rice and beans and beans and rice for a couple of months to years, keep the house, and get rid of the wife.

If you are happy in the current house, stay put, it will cost you about 30K to sell it. Save and pay off debt, while in your home.

Don't sell! You may regret it one day and rent always goes up!

No, don't make updates to something you don't own.... Also you cannot guarantee it would be yours, especially if there are other kids or they end up in a nursing home and the nursing home takes their assets.

To get rich in life, you need to spend less and invest more. You don't expect to spend 90%, invest 10% and sit to make more wealth.

He's a Momma's boy. She wants him to check her house a few times a week, for months. For break-ins, busted water pipe, shovel snow, clear away mail, trash, downed tree limbs. Momma cooked up this weird plan where her little boy becomes her handyman & roommate.

I think this is an emotional decisions. Emotionally, would your life go better and has she learned her lesson with spending? I am definitely tempted to be debt free. What about a second job and frugal living? If you trust your parents go for it and rent an Air b and b when they come in town. Write an agreement up to purchase home. I know many of people who stayed with parents to save for a home and it worked beautifully.

Sell the house to pay your debt. Than spend twice as much renting and building no equity anymore. Yeah that sounds like a good long term decision. I'd much rather pay a bit of interest on a mortgage debt, compared to throwing away a huge chunk of money to rent a place. Dave makes it almost sound like renting is better than having a mortgage debt.

Don't sell the house. Where are you going to live? I think it is foolish to think real estate is in a bubble and prices will deflate. Low housing inventory in STL. Whennyou reaccumulate cash for a new home, pr8ces will still be high.

Keep the house and pay off debt little by little

Still not sure if I like the new intro.

This guy is ruined either way, she won't want to live with his folks and she won't want to spend the early years of marriage scrimping and scraping after being educated to pay off debt, as it will kill the magic of the relationship. Once debt free and unhappy the marriage will be on borrowed time.

Don't make any deals with parents, that is a bear trap waiting to happen.
