LS is simply going back to his roots. And, this means working indoors does not mean the environment is not different. He frequently simulated different outdoor environments inside thus allowing to control the amount of difference in environments then extrapolating those different experiences into real environments.

I will only ride indoors when training for safety. Cars and trucks on roads with no shoulders/bike lanes make me nervous. And I have gotten heat exhaustion a couple of times riding in the heat. Scary stuff.

There is also the stress factor on the body. For me personally, riding outside in the heat adds that extra stress to the different systems of my body which require longer recovery periods. With LS and other professionals, they don't necessarily have the luxury of taking longer periods to recover due to the volume of their training.

Just some thoughts. I may be totally wrong, but thats where my head is.

Cycling is so dangerous where I live in so metro Atlanta that I’m moving back to my home state of Minnesota. The movie industry has taken over by my house and im over it. We fat tire cycle in Minnesota in the winter and gravel in the spring road in the summer. 4k miles of rail trail, shoulders the size of car lanes, and bike lanes. Moving by a 110 mile rail trail with rolling hills in Minnesota 14, 444 lakes 6500 rivers to open water swim in the summer
