Spent some time with Lionel talking about his Kona prep and why it's so important to stick to your own plan instead of copying others. Towards the end, he shares a message from a coach that really hit home—'Don't train like anyone else. Do what works for you.' Classic Lionel, keeping it real and honest. Enjoy! - Talbot

Thank you so much, Lionel. I'm truly touched and humbled to hear that my comment about training approaches resonated with you so deeply. It means a great deal coming from someone as knowledgeable and experienced as yourself. I'm glad I was able to contribute something meaningful to your personal journey. Your videos and insights have been invaluable for many athletes out there, so to have made even a small positive impact in return is incredibly rewarding. Thank you for taking the time to acknowledge it - your openness to ideas from your community is part of what makes you such an excellent athlete.

I’m a simple guy, Lionel posts and I stop everything to watch.

I do fear that we are back to the "Lionel doesn't need a coach", because he knows best about himself loop. Forgetting that a CRITICAL part of being a coach is being able to look at your athlete's training objectively and at the bigger, long term picture, before an A race.
If Lionel has finally managed to do that, which he's never managed since i began following his journey about 10 years ago, then he'll be in the mix. Otherwise we'll have another teary video, like we did after 2018, about how he fubared-up. I really do hope its the former. Because that would be total 🔥🔥❗️❗️

I literally needed this video to get my mood right.
Life feels empty in the gaps between Lionel's uploads.
This is my fucking church

Lionel's attitude has really changed this year. I've really enjoyed seeing him smile so much more. He really seems to be enjoying "the journey" over this past year. You go Lionel!

The best is that we Lionel fans can listen to him say everything but nothing for 12 minutes straight and hang on every word.

Lionel, this is such an inspirational video. The message you're giving so many athletes and the fact that you're modelling the way is truly something special. You've grown so much in your racing and in your philosophy. Thanks for being you! ❤️

"The one that slows down the least wins" - Joe Friel
You are the best example of this quote (for me personally). Weldone!

Always good to hear you Lionel. I have been injured for some weeks and I had to cancel all my next races and I have been really down and just reanalasing everything.
But hearing you talk always gives me a sense of confidence and the motivation to keep grinding

Wow... What a video. Thank you for sharing. I love the idea of individuality when it comes to training. It's so easy to get caught up following everyone else as that's 'what works' but being reminded to focus and listen to your own body and how it responds to training is excellent advice 💪
