Despite his rise to the top of the sport and almost unrivalled popularity, Lionel Sanders is still striving for that major victory that will lift him towards legendary status within triathlon folklore.

The arrival of the PTO Tour in his home country provides him with an incredible opportunity. His ITU Long Distance World Championship was won on home soil back in 2017 and now he has the chance to take on the Norwegian superstars Kristian Blummenfelt and Gustav Iden, the top two ranked athletes in the world, in front of his home crowd in Edmonton.

All PTO Tour races will be available to watch live exclusively on Eurosport, Discovery+ & GCN+ in Europe.

We bring you some of the biggest sports events in the world, such as Roland-Garros, Australian Open, Giro D’Italia, Tour De France, the World Snooker Championships and the Olympic Games, amongst so many more.

Glad that Eurosport is promoting this amazing sport, with what PTO has been doing. Only a matter of time before these amazing athletes, Lionel, Jan, Gustav, etc will be recognized globally as they should be.

Lionel I just want to thank you as a athlete approaching 70 years old finding it harder to run as fast as I used to I struggle with positioning in my swim technique and as far as my cycling goes I'm not going to get up the hill any faster but I will tell you this that because of your inspiration and motivation I will never ever never ever give up I will cross that finish line if I have to crawl you don't know me and I don't know you but we both know one thing death before dishonor

Crying on the turbo and probably still pushing more watts than I have in lifetime 😂

Drug addiction seems a fitting background for a triathlete, it takes an addiction mindset to commit to such levels of engagement with training and planning, and has similar effects on social life, friends and family must also love the drug, sport. Its an emotional rollercoaster.

I don't know who could beat the Norwegians as long as they stay healthy. And they are still under 30 so they have many years left.

Lionel could dominate the sport even more with his power. Unfortunately, he is not particularly efficient in all three disciplines.
No top athlete can afford unnecessary losses, so he rarely takes first places. Unfortunately, that's the way it is.
I wish him that he finds the way to efficiency before age pulls the curve down too much.
But - he has fun, all fine. 😁

Could be one of thee at the top.
Unfortunately he does something jto be maybe between 4 and 10.

But he has fun and he is Happy, so everything seems to be fine.

Good luck ...

Got the most marketing going. Have a personal media agent that created a sport reality show.

Lionel is probably better at marketing than he is at triathlon. 😄

don't think so. He thinks more like a wrestler than triathlete! He might have the potential and will but his way of thinking and the over training is making him slower. Years are going by and he can't understand the right way to train without getting hurt.
