I have a laundry basket that I bought at K-Mart in 2009 for 99 cents when I was moving into my first apartment. It's sitting right in front of me as I'm watching your video, 14 years later and still doing its job! Apparently it's the best 99 cents I've ever spent.

I'm a sucker for bins and baskets. Today, I was in a shop here called Action. I grabbed a cute bin and then Cass was in my ear going: don't buy bins BEFORE the organising. And I put it back (for now).

I have to say about those first 3 drawer dresser/totes you hate so much - they were a godsend for me in my camper. I stored our beach towels, lake shoes, kids swim goggles in there in my bedroom closet. The 5 drawer tall slender one was in my bathroom closet storing my bathroom supplies, wash cloths, razors, curling iron etc. So that's my story. They saved my dilemma on storage.

I use the three drawer organizer in my closet to store Christmas presents I buy throughout the year. One drawer for each of my daughters and my husband. This way I don’t “hide” them and forget where I put them! All three people are grown so they don’t go snooping!

I will say I repurposed my narrow 3 drawer organizer. I put it in the coat closet. A drawer each for hats, gloves, and scarves. It’s worked better so far then any other way I’ve tried to corral all winter gear. I always try to find a way to repurpose my organization items before I get rid of them.

My husband and I noticed that our family was always on electronics so we put into place a "no electronics monday". At first it was really hard but it got easier to find things to do. It was way beneficial and we spent more time together as a family. I highly recommend it.

Goodwill is 0ver run with heavy duty baskets from 1.00 to 10.00. I think it's the better option also you can pick up a dresser for 20 to 30. And take drawers out replace with baskets or paint 0r pick up heavy duty file cabinets if your willing to wait and be patient. I bought a antique solid oak dresser off Craigslist for 20.00..I use to fuss at my kids over internet loss.Oh my I'm becoming the same, internet dependent & it scares me 😱

Remember that Goodwill and Thrift stores are great places to find ANY of this. Especially baskets and organizers. It is usually cheaper, it doesn’t contribute to the new product production problem and you can often find something unique.

I have several of those 3-drawer carts (purchased when they were only about $8 each). Mine are well organized, and each has a specific purpose. One each for painting and gardening supplies in the garage, one for pet supplies, one for hats/scarves/gloves, one for office supplies, and two stacked without the wheels in my bedroom closet for first aid, personal care, & beauty items. Wouldn't buy any more though, because they're now too expensive.

my sewing room is filled with these 3 drawer plastic rolling carts. I know that they can become dumping grounds, but for a craft room they are perfect for organizing fabric, yarn, and other craft supplies that you want to divide and segregate. LOVE them for that. I'm shocked at the price they are in your video. I know I paid way less than $30 and it was in the last year!

Please do more videos like this. So helpful and for many of us we just naturally go to Walmart because we think they have the lowest prices. This was very helpful.

This "buy this not that" was spot on.

I only know of three successful uses of the dreaded plastic "dressers": I've used one drawer for each day's kits for VBS crafts class; one drawer per day per child for preselected school outfits works for my nieces; and I saw them used for fluffy yarn and placed protectively under craft tables in a craft room tour video. I think they're only useful for lightweight items in precise categories and sheltered from attempts to treat them like real furniture. They're only less-sturdy covered bins which you don't have to unstack.

The resin shelves are okay but they are also only suitable for certain purposes. They must be on a flat, level, sturdy surface and they should only have about a quarter of the weight per shelf of what it says on the label. Many versions will hold plastic shoe or sweater boxes fairly well so they could be used for hobby and craft supplies and perhaps holiday decor if it fits in the smaller bins.

The best use I know for the "don't buy" wire cube shelves is as portable displays at flea markets and craft fairs. (Used with zip ties as hinges for easy setup still allowing them to fold up flat.) They may also work zip-tied into cube baskets for more visible storage on sturdy shelves.

A tip for choosing small and medium sized laundry baskets: While the rigid styles may seem more sturdy, the flexible ones are much more durable if they're ever squeezed, overfilled, or might be sat in or on. The rigid ones will crack before the flexible ones will tear. Flexible ones can also fit in an irregular space or one slightly smaller than ideal.

Great recommendations!! Walmart is getting pretty expensive. Cas, I was wondering if you would ever do one show with each clutterbug, (Bee, Cricket, Butterfly & Ladybug) using the same idential space, so we can see the same space organized by different ways for each. Perhaps a closet, or spare room, kitchen, or something. Each of my daughters are in their 30's (triplets) and we are different clutterbugs. We'd love to see the differences in the organizing and what shelving, baskets, hooks would work best for each, and so on. We love watching your

I use 6 of the 3 drawer stacked. I use them for all my crafts. It keeps all my craft supplies. I can go directly to my crochet hooks or knitting needles. Yarn in another drawer. Craft books in another. Each drawer has one type of craft and supplies. It has worked for 3 years.

The narrow 3 drawer organizer is in my closet. Top for bras, middle underwear, bottom for socks. It helps as a strict limit (ex Container concept) & makes it easy to SEE when it might be time to declutter.
Plus for clothes essentials it really doesn’t take up much space.

Three drawer unit works well. If it's a mess, it's not the units fault, it's the person that makes the mess

I’ve got one of those plastic drawer units which I “inherited” from my Nan. It felt like it would be ideal for crafts but like you said, it just filled up with random junk. However…. I now use it for sentimental items. Each drawer is for things connected with a different branch of my family and also friends. It works great for that.

Cass, I stayed til the end. I too endured the same ice storm, and as always, my power lineman was out there fixing the storm damage. We've gotten very good around here at surviving those power outages with me left in charge. He has us set up well with generators and supplies when the weather turns bad because we might not see him for days.

I will defend the plastic drawers for a cheap addition of closet space… we have a couple that I use for pajamas, tank tops, and athletic shorts. The giant ones also work well for under bed storage for wrapping paper, extra sheets, etc. Also the smaller ones have worked for us for horse supplies in the barn… I guess what I’m saying is if you designate it for one type of thing and stick to it, they work (from a ladybug)… but otherwise for “stuff” they have become overwhelmed quickly 😂

We here in Michigan had an ice storm last week. We were out of power for only 12 hours. My son was out for 3 and 1/2 days. It was horrible, and cold. It sure makes us realize how important the electricity is, and how we take things for granted. Thanks for all your great money saving ideas. 👍🏻
