Mesa/Boogie Mark V In Depth Part 6 - Channel 3 MARK IIC+

No other Mesa/Boogie amplifier, apart from possibly the Mark I, has been so revered, so sought after, as the Mark IIC+. There were very few of these classics made, and if you can find one, they fetch far more than their original retail price. The Mark V amplifier has been endowed with the IIC+ preamp circuit, and this is a demo exploring its many sides.

Gotta give Don a big A+++ for effort with these demos. He certainly earns his paycheck, great chops and in turn great salesman.. I think I shall seriously consider Haggerty for my Mesa purchase Summer 2013.

If youre after that MoP/AJFA tone youre gonna need more than just a Mark II C+, you'll also need a Marshall as the Mesa was used as a preamp and the Marshall as a power amp. Maybe you could get it with a Mark II C+ if it had EL34s.

@mojoefly The difference is subtle, but pentode is punchier, and triode is a bit more liquid. There is a definite "feel" difference when your playing in triode.

@petesilvo Not necessarily. What I've come to notice is the Mark V is very capable of capturing the essence and vibe of the original amps, but not necessarily capable of EVERY tone those original amps could produce. I feel our videos here accurately represent what the Mark V is capable of and if you've heard the tone you crave then by all means grab a Mark V or try one out at a store.

Awesome playing on Concerto.  Thats some SERIOUS "rhythm" guitar.  Gotta love Friedman & Becker together.  Such a tragedy. (Watch Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet TONIGHT if you haven't)  The reason I started playing lead guitar is because of Marty's work on Rust in Peace.  Then I discovered DT and my whole world was never the same...now I love lip synching, autotune using, overpayed, under talented top 40 pop "music".  Its the American way
