Animated Maps: Ten Thousand Years of Volcanic Eruptions

Показать описание
Let's look back at over ten thousand years of volcanic eruptions. This animated map groups eruptions using the Volcanic Explosivity Index (VEI) with indices from 0 to 8. For reference, the 1977 eruption of Kilauea has VEI of 0 and the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens has a VEI of 5.

Are the volcanos all historically documented and if so, where is the reference for each as I'm researching volcanic eruption locations going as far back as possible. Also with all the massive earth changes over many years, how can we accurately map them?
Thanks!

Great animation but I would like to see dates as they occur to establish a possible pattern in what seems like the Earth's breathing or pulsing.

Which was the most powerful eruption in the last 10, 000 years? Was Rinjani (1257AD) more powerful than Ilopango (535AD)? Was the one that formed Crater Lake in Oregon the most powerful? (Mount Mazama)

That pulsation is worth investigating.

Why does it pulse? Is that an animation factor or do all those eruptions happen at the same time, repeatedly?

This timelapse is super shit, because Indonesia and Filipine definitely have more eruption in the last 100 years more than any country in the world, this list is super bias..
