Yeah Islam, the hippy religion of love and peace and has complete tolerance for nuance and innovation, yeah definitely Islam. We read a "scholarly article" my senior year that claimed that the renaissance was started because of Islamic trade. The evidence? Arabic metalware found in Venice... I remember our visiting professor tearing the article to shreds.

Just because you earned a degree doesn't mean you're always right. The academic funding cycle allows tenured professors to make completely nonsensical claims like the one in the video on the grounds of "we need more money to continue this groundbreaking research."

The one major advancement that I know we do have Islam to thank for is modern mathematics, but that's not a scientific advancement. It's connected to science yes, but it's not a scientific advancement.
