Can Cosmologists Prove Nobel Prize Winner Sir Roger Penrose is WRONG?

On October 6, 2020 Sir Roger Penrose was recognized with a half-share of the 2020 Nobel Prize in physics. This marked a capstone in a storied career. On August 8, 2021 he turned 90, and to celebrate the world threw him a big party. I was one of the invited speakers to discuss his titanic contributions to cosmology. Of course, I brought him a gift...but it ISN"T what you might think! I couldn't resist throwing a bit of shade at the man who revealed the most mystifying aspects of black holes and the singularities that dwell within them.

I wanted to take a critical look at his beloved Conformal Cyclic Cosmology and see it for all it is, warts and all, virtues and vices complete. This is part two of my exploration of CCC: how can we prove Sir Roger WRONG, i.e. falsify its claims, not prove it right! This video explores the tools and technology that could push Roger's CCC to the limit!

It was a fantastic week of online sessions celebrating Roger's 90th Birthday and Nobel Prize sponsored by The University of Arizona's Center for Consciousness Studies. Fellow invited speakers included

Black Holes: Sir Roger Penrose, Reinhard Genzel, Roger Blandford
Objective Reduction: Ivette Fuentes, Hendrik Ulbricht, Dirk Bouwmeester, Philip Stamp
Consciousness/Orch OR: Justin Riddle, Stuart Hameroff, Greg Scholes, Alysson Muotri
Quantum Biology of Microtubules: Jack Tuszynski, Aarat Kalra, Travis Craddock, Aristide Dogariu, M. Bruce MacIver, Anirban Bandyopadhyay
Conformal Cyclical Cosmology: Paul Tod, Brian Keating, Krzysztof Meissner, Vahe Gurzadyan

Is Conformal Cyclic Cosmology the most promising alternative to Inflation?

I will be very sad if Roger is wrong. He is a gentleman. Even if he is wrong he is still a great person. He has done amazing work.

Sir Penrose's theory aligns exactly like the Sanatana-Hindu way of how the universe as we see came into be. Very good video by Brian sir and I look forward for their research in this field. love from India

Unfortunately, at1:40 you said “unpolarized light, say from the sun”, which caused a me to go off track. My mental dialogue was, “hey, wait, big magnetic field, should have some polarization” and then I spent 1/2 hour verifying and skimming papers on solar polarization. The rest of the talk was very good.

Can someone explain the physical mechanism in CCC that causes the transition cycle from the beginning of an Aeon and the end of an Aeon? Both states are described to be equivalent in the sense that they are purely (mostly?) energy rather than matter, with the beginning highly dense and the end highly rarefied (they can't be equivalent). You go from low to high entropy... Then suddenly low entropy for the beginning of the next Aeon. How? Why?

In any event, son, it's violently evident to me that space - the actual infinite void itself - has always been there.

I mean, how can emptiness be created? It can't.

Matter is probably finite. But space is infinite - and I mean literally infinite.

I know this is the way of science and peer reviews, but I soooo want Roger's CCC theory to be correct, I'll be gutted! I'd still be happy for you too Prof Keating 🙂

The download will be ready in a week or so for new quantum computing equations and some truth about Physics may be in between.

It may happen that when deeper investigations can be done, that the events triggering the start of our Universe are different than anyone has thus far theorized. I appreciate your open minded approach as you search for answers.

I just wanted to say I recognise the clickbait but I also recognise the hustle Brian. Keep up the great work, these are excellent videos! Can't wait to see this one!

Sabine Hossenfelder prompted your channel, and I'm not disappointed in what I've found! Although I'm more of theory-guy, I very well understand how essential the work you experementalists do is in following the evidence where it leads (just make sure it does not mean discarding the cyclic universe! - joking ofc).
Keep up the good work, subscribed!

its important for people to understand why we trusted the science during the pandemic. Peer reviews and discussions like this is are how we filter and refine the science about us and the universe around us.
One of the questions; are there hawking points in the CMB? supporting rogers theory that we live in the latest cycle of the universe!

Roger is a BRILLIANT THINKER..LOVE HIM AN IDOL OF MINE..IS he incorrect or only somewhat.. who knows near none are, all is an approximation anyhow

What I would like to see is the empty hole at the centre of the universe due to everything moving outwards. That would be very satisfactory .

The fact that Penrose deals with ideas that are falsifiable is further evidence that he is scientific, not evidence to the contrary. Peddling in ideas that are not falsifiable is anti-scientific.

The prime requirement for any recognition ("dispense of power") by the System is controllability. If you want one you have to submit to the other.
