It’s been a busy year for Manchester City. As well as adding a 6th title in 10 seasons, signing Erling Haaland, and trying to extend Pep Guardiola’s contract, their parent company, the City Football Group, have been busy behind the scenes, closing a deal to bring Palermo into their family of football clubs, bringing their total number of teams to 11.

On today’s Explained, we look into this system, its similarities to rival football business Red Bull, and how it has helped City build a world-class side – as well as some of the deeper motivations behind Sheikh Mansour’s investments.

This is a good career mode option now, Palermo RTG
But jokes aside I hope they can restore the club and take them to new heights. This is basically Disney of Football before ours eyes

What an absolute rubbish of research and a huge disinformation from this YouTuber..

The city football group is worth 5billion dollars in 2019, as silverlake purchased 15% of the Group for 750mil dollars.

Manchester City have started to recoup large amounts of money from selling their academy and fringe squad players. So much so, the past 2 transfer windows has been a net positive in transfers.

City also do not carry any debt. So all of their revenue goes to profits and running of the club.

There is nothing left to develop at the Etihad. The stadium, Etihad academy & training facilities are already one of the worlds best.

Generational talented youth players are flowing through City academy and if they don’t make it to the first team, they get sold for millions of dollars.

This just goes to show that this channel doesn’t know anything about the business model. Hate to break it to you, but the sheikh is absolutely getting a far better return on his investment than the stock market..

Here we go again with the “sportswashing” talk.
1. Nobody ever brings up the human rights abuses of America, England, China etc. Not making excuses for the UAE at all but if we are to have a true meaningful conversation about human rights abuses why stop at the UAE?
2. Since 2008 CFG has spent 1 billion on Man City, they had to overhaul an entire team, training ground, local area and upgrade the stadium. You expect them to do all that with £5 and a hug? It takes incredible amounts of money to get a team competing in the Premier League nowadays. Especially since Manchester United completely dominated the league for so long.
3.NYCFC, Melbourne City and Mumbai City all won their leagues last campaign. Not bad for some “feeder clubs”. CFG obviously have a funnel for talented players to Man City because that’s the flagship club but that doesn’t mean they just neglect all the other clubs.

There is so much financial information missing from this video. Silver lake invested 500 million dollars and China media capital invested 400 million dollars into the group to purchase stake. while the abu dhabi still holding a majority 75% stake in the group. Manchester city is actually started making profit(might have been affected by covid though) but they are going to implement the same running strategy into the sister clubs which will make them profitable in the future as they win trophies, best examples are new york city fc, melbourne city and mumbai city fc who have recently won the league in their respective leagues. Therefore it clearly shows that this model is profitable business actually.

The sportswashing argument is one of the dumbest there are. If Mansour hadn’t bought City, none of the football community would even know about any of the accusations against them. Why would it be helpful for them to jump into the limelight and welcome criticism? It genuinely makes no sense

I think Man city group should buy a team in Mexico, its a stronger league than the mls and holds little foreign player restrictions so they would be able to buy young South American players and develop them then send them to Europe once they're ready

I usually like you guy’s content, but this video/ video title is really in poor taste. All it does to invite disdain on Man city as football club.

Even if they bought clubs in all 221 FIFA member countries and supplies them with billions of players still won’t be enough to topple a football royalty like Real Madrid.

City aren't buying clubs, its the owners of city

Why is football daily so clueless, one sided and bias against Man City, The fact that you all thought cole palmer was Liam delap was embarrassing enough but this video is painfully shallow in accurate detail and it just feels like this video is another way for football daily (the Liverpool lovers ) garner hate for city while smearing their name and doing minimum research while there at it, probably to receive more interactions through encouraging city hate in the comments. Big L on this video. Long time supporter of the channel but as someone who was raised a citizen it gets very boring hearing efd and football daily just hate Man City, you might not like the club but I’m guessing everyone’s goal is to become a pundit/presenter? If that’s the case the least you can do is give a balanced argument. All this city hate only causes the fans to get slewed and we didn’t even do anything or have any choice, born into our clubs the same as you.

The other cfg clubs aren't really feeder clubs for man city. No players at any of those clubs have gone on to play for city

City group can get around FFP if they sign players from there own clubs so if man City sign a player from NYCFC in theory they just exchange cash between the clubs not losing a penny.

0:18 Why did you include an image of Rio de Janeiro when you mentioned Esporte Clube Bahia? We are from Salvador, in the Brazilian Northeast. Brazil is a diverse country, it is much larger than the city of Rio de Janeiro. The image still shows the favelas of Rio, how stereotypical.
