in all fairness, the players which are looking to leave have all achieved quite a lot at City already. They probably want something fresh and/or want to start in more games since they are all on the older side

The real reason is what Roy Keane once said after ManU won the treble. Break up the team and rebuild, refresh.

Guardiola was obviously ironically mocking the interviewers agenda

Meanwhile at Real Madrid you got Modric and Kroos still wanting to play after winning 5 UCL’s 💀

This happened at Napoli too. All new players, many young future stars. They won the title after 33 years, a good squad who can go far in the UCL. The chairman has made 300 million and can make a far stronger side to compete for UCL (as he stated himself). Instead the manager left, the football director left, and 3-4 of the starting 11 want to leave. Sure Napoli isn't a huge team, but winning makes people think they have achieved the impossible and its time to move on to a new challenge.

Isn't this the same reason why Guardiola quit managing Barcelona ? He wanted to sell established and core players from the team who had won titles and sign younger players to maintain hunger and passion for winning in the team. And since the Barcelona board rejected his requests, he left Barca. Absolute legend 🫡

Grealish wants to stay and still has the hunger & desire for another treble... he wants another party … coz he can’t remember anything from the last one! 🍻

Guardiola is the king of sarcasm. It's his second language after Catalan.

Gurdiola loves new challenges and also supports other players to do so. He could have spent his entire life as the boss of barcelona and win league title every year and some ucls, but he wanted new challenges.

Walker is my biggest regret. Best full back we've ever had, a warrior, and still at the height of his powers.

Same thing happened at Barca. Pep was relentless in his demands on his players but some of them got decadent after winning everything repeatedly.

Pique got lazy and some of the other players weren’t so hungry.

(Plus the board was being difficult.)

So basically, he knew he didn’t have the power to get rid of the players so he left.

This is your friendly reminder to leave any team that is not playing you. Although the coaches might lie to you and tell you that you are going to get playing time at some point, just leave and go somewhere else. You only have a specific amount of time in your life that you can actually play competitively, so don’t waste it.

Same thing happened to Pep after he won everything with Barca, he said he was tired and wanted to get a new challange

Also why changing coach usually works. If you are secure in your position on the team, you might start to relax and not fight to prove yourself
