I think that the #1 way to win over a mom is to just be real. Don't act fake, don't try to be who you think she wants you to be. Just be yourself. If she doesn't like you, then she doesn't like you. I don't like when people try extra hard. It's ridiculous.

The things that they said are true on how to win a mother's heart. You must always be respectful, NEVER talk about her son, and always be generous. But even though you do these things, there are some mothers who still won't like their son's girlfriend. There are some mother's who are bitter, angry and mad at the world and don't want their son to be in ANY relationship with another woman. Those are the momma's boys. I don't think I can ever date a momma's boy because I just can't deal with unnecessary drama with the mother and also be competitive with her.

Respect always wins over your significant others family. I am naturally respectful, addressing their mom by Miss or Ma'am and their father by Sir. Or just simply say thank you after every action of giving whether its a compliment or going over for dinner and their mom brings over the plate be like "Thank you Miss I really appreciate it." I have always been like that. That is just how I was raised with good manners. Promise you always wins them over.

I would just say to always show respect, but also expect it in return, don't do that to urself because you will despise your spouse if you are not being respected. When my son and daughter start to date I am going to do everything in my power to support them unless I just KNOW something is not right. Still will be supportive, but will still tell it like it is...

I was actually in a relationship where the mom didnt like me. At first we we're great and over time, she didn't like me. I honestly believe it was because she realized that I was there to stay and that of course took attention away from her.
