Modern Masculinity: How to be a Good Man | Cecili Chadwick | TEDxCSUSM

Over the past ten years Cecili Chadwick has taught Women’s Studies at a collegiate level. She leverages her unique perspective on how our misinterpretations of feminism have led to the rise of men’s rights activism and the increased consensus that men have become disposable. Is there a place for men in feminism?

Cecili earned a B.A. in Communication and Women’s Studies from California State University San Marcos and a Master’s degree in Women’s Studies from Claremont Graduate University. Cecili lectures on a variety of topics ranging from feminist views on pornography, freedom of speech, social justice, identity politics, reproductive justice, and the gendered landscapes of political campaigns. She also works with fraternities and sororities raising awareness about violence and sexual assault. Currently, Cecili is a lecturer for the Women’s Studies department at CSUSM.

Being a great man is accepting people for who they are. It is doing the right thing when nobody Is looking not lying being honorable standing up for what is right.. It comes down to one saying folks do the right thing when the time comes and ur life will change drastically

As good as this lecture seems to be, it still misses out on the main point of men's issues. She said her friend said she had a routine with her children and it was disrupted when the father was present. This, to me, says that she thinks the mother's method of parenting is the best and must be followed by the father as well. Men and women are different. How men and women spend time with the kids is different. Free, unconstructed time fosters is just as important as structured time, especially for boys.

As a 17 guy, how do men change, I think no one should try to bring people down and am personally not that low I try to out shine them in a good way you know, am just trying be my best me and I watch this to see if I needed to work on stuff don’t hate on my lack of knowledge yk

What a beautiful women who speak so painfully. We can't help ourselves for this chain of destruction that is the patriarchy created by our forefathers. But we should work hard to break it in our own personal life.

Here is what you miss: Men are not angry that they are seen as disposable. Men have ALWAYS been disposable. Male power COMES from our disposability. That's what it means to be a man. Being virtuous as man means embracing my disposability. It means putting my disposability to good use.

It seems like men and women don’t need each other anymore. So the only logical way foreword is everyone going their own way.
