There was also another story line where he was trying to be a better person and swore off killing. He went on missions with Spider-Man because he really likes and hanging with him but when something almost drove Peter to kill someone Wade kinda sighed and did it himself not wanting to see Spider-Man break his rule of no killing because he truly does care about him and when he took this guys life his skin returned to its decayed state. There was a funny one off where Loki tricked DP into thinking he had the powers of Thor and through a meandering series of DP shenanigans he managed to ruin Loki's plan, his punishment was to have the face of Tom Cruise for awhile that he couldnt damage or alter lol

In the Spiderman Deadpool crossover series, it was revealed that Wade's skin is caused by his guilty conscious. He actually stopped killing and healed. However, after facing a villain named Itsy Bitsy, Spider Man was going to kill her. All part of Mephisto's plan. Wade stepped in and killed her, causing his skin to once again become deformed. The price of saving Spider-Man's soul.

Once, there was an encounter with Deadpool where a group of skulls managed to acquire his unique healing factor without the burden of his infamous cancer, resulting in unforeseen consequences. Deadpool stated that the Weapon X program had tailored his healing factor specifically to counteract his cancerous cells, which produced healthy cells to counteract the ones the cancer was killing of thus maintaining a delicate balance within his body. However, he stated when if someone else obtained his healing factor without the cancer (pointing to the super skulls), the equilibrium was disrupted because the body would produced to much healthy cells and without the cancer to keep it at bay it would result in rampant mutation.



In another comic instance, I vaguely remember Deadpool being cured of his cancer, ultimately meeting his demise, but I can't remember which one

I'm thinking that because your skin is constantly breaking down and regenerating anyway, the best that it can do(his skin)is to maintain it's current state of being. It may be cancerous and look it, but, it doesn't seem to matasticize to other organs
