4 Types of sentences: Simple, Compound, Complex, and Compound Complex sentences in English

Hello, learners!
We'll master four different types of sentences in English in this lesson: simple sentence, compound sentence, complex sentence, and compound complex sentence.
Clause: it is a group of words that has the subject verb combination.
Independent clause: an independent clause is a sentence. Since it does not depend on anything, it is called an independent clause. It gives a complete meaning.
Dependent clause: it is a clause that depends on an Independent clause. It does not stand on its own.
Examples of independent clauses:-
• We sleep.
• I love you.
• Most people are slave to their minds.
Examples of dependent clauses:-
• Because I love you.
• Since he was in debt.
• Unless Ron apologizes to me.
Note: dependent clauses leave us with the question "So WHAT" or "WHAT ELSE."
What is a simple sentence?
A simple sentence talks about only one idea. It is an independent clause.
• I love teaching English.
• Everyone eats food.
• Rahul works at a mall.
Note: we can use different types of phrases in a simple sentence; it does not make it a compound or a complex sentence.
• Demotivated by the exam results, he committed suicide.
• Looking into her eyes, I started crying.

What is a compound complex sentence?
It is a combination of at least two independent clauses and at least one dependent clause.

• We're trying to hook him up with the girl since he has been lonely lately, but I am not sure if that is going to work
