SENTENCE TYPES

In today's lesson, Kevin teaches you how to identify simple, compound, and complex sentences.

DIRECTIONS: Write whether each sentence is simple, compound, or complex.
1. Two months ago, we went on a fishing trip.
2. We showed up on time, but they didn’t let us in.
3. If you get the chance, can you mow the lawn?
4. I caught the ball and put it through the hoop.
5. Rain, sleet, and snow are all common in Michigan.
6. Before you leave, can you do the dishes?
7. They messed up their presentation, so they had to redo it.
8. I will take the test after I finish studying.
9. You can come inside with us, or you can wait in the car.
10. The pilot and his crew flew over the Atlantic Ocean and landed on a remote island.

I see you haven’t posted really recently, but I wanted to thank you. Despite having a considerable IQ, when I was a straight A student in school, my family moved one block over, and I was bussed to the worst school in our city. While I was beginning into punctuation, and so my punctuation has never been good. I learned more in one day watching your videos than a year in the English class of my last school. You are an awesome English teacher. Hope you are teaching somewhere.

so complex need to have a dependent and complex part nice. what i understand is that complex need to have a part that can be a simple sentance on its own and another part that doesnt make sense purely by it self. nice video

If you wouldn’t mind me asking you one more question? If someone has a name say like M which is also a nickname is it supposed to have quotation marks or not? And If it’s a character in a book would there be any exceptions to that?
