Thank you so much for this wealth of information! I recently broke my foot (left, 5th metatarsal) by stepping on a pine cone at work *insert face palm* I was shocked because I'm 28 and have never had an injury. My ankle and foot rolled all the way to the side, and I heard a crack that sounded like a empty water bottle being squished. I have learned more with you here than I did at the hospital during my intake and follow up appointments.

Guy cut me off on the way to work, made me drop my sporty and hit my metatarsal on my break peg hard enough to cause a small microfracture upon rolling and landing back on my feet just to collapse immediately to the pain on my foot. Been healing for over a month and took all the steps prior to even watching this video due to my experiences in life and in the military. No joke that this small injury does take a long time. If anybody is going through a foot injury, please take it slow. I'd rather sacrifice half a year of embarrassment and small inconveniences than to never walk normally again.

I broke my Foot a couple days ago and I’m so upset finding out that it could take up to a year to fully recover! 😔 so many useful tips

I fell down the stairs two weeks ago and broke the 4th and 5th metatarsals of my left foot. We went to the ER within an hour and I’m so glad we did. Recovery is going well, but having my foot in the down position is exhausting! After 10-20 minutes, I need to put it up again. My endurance in terms of pain and energy is getting better every day.

I broke my foot walking on my lawn, walking the same path I did 100 times before.
Didn't check my footing as I was in a hurry and just walked in a smallish hole and the foot flipped.
At first, I thought I just sprained it. But I couldn't walk on my foot and something was loose, and it was colorful and huge.

Turns out I ripped some tendons and broke a bone.

I was surprised, a 30 years old in shape guy could break something so easily.

Jones fracture of the 5th metatarsal, right foot so no driving and no weight bearing. I had just left the office after my last day on the job, walking 10 feet to my car on a perfectly flat, smooth, clean office park sidewalk. My foot rolled for no particular reason that I can recall and I heard a loud pop. Seven weeks in, using an all-terrain knee scooter that I rented for $70/month at a local medical supply place (about 1/2 the cost of buying the same model and I didn't have to put it together). I use a walker in the shower to stay steady. Boot when out and about. I live alone off-grid, so this has been a challenging and isolating 2 months, but hoping I can drive again soon. I did get a bone stimulator through insurance (I just started a new job with new health insurance, so it costs me my entire $2000 annual deductible). My doctor thinks they really help, I am not sure... could be a very expensive placebo. Wishing all who are in the same boat speedy and smooth healing! You got this!

I dropped something really heavy on my right foot at work 10 weeks ago and broke the 5th metatarsal into several pieces and it was an open fracture with the impact creating a hole half way through my foot. Had ORIF surgery and I’m walking and driving already so I’m very fortunate and happy about it. The first couple of weeks were horrible, a lot of pain at night and I constantly had to keep my foot up because every time blood started pooling into it, it would start hurting like hell.

Fell down my stairs again, broke 5th metatarsal an open break, couldn't wear a boot, it hurt too much vs no pain without boot. Stayed off my foot for 4 weeks on crutches, doctor said it is healing well and stay off for another 3 weeks. I appreciate the exra info to keep me from re-injurying.

Thank you so much for providing such thorough information. I slipped at home 3 weeks ago and didnt realize it until later in the evening because I have neuropathy and have injured my foot and leg multiple times. This was the last thing I needed however with our Medicare system being terribly exhausted! I walked out of the hospital on my injured foot for a few days before getting fitted with a proper boot! And after seeing the doctor the only thing he said was to continue wearing the boot for another 3 weeks followed by a few sessions of physio! No follow up, no need for further examination! Meanwhile you just gave us 25 tips and things to do to help heal the affected areas of the foot. Thanks again 🙏

Broke my foot two days ago during exercise - jogging on the deck, had a bad twist and bam - broken foot, so much pain. I’m a bit lost now as I exercise and run daily, not sure how I will survive this, but thank you for your video and tips, it helps.

Tripped on the stairs and twisted my ankle. Heard that sort of ripping noise and knew I’d need to go to urgent care. Broken ankle and 5th metatarsal. Thanks for all this information especially the reminder to prioritize self care.

So much good, relevant information in such a pleasant, upbeat presentation. Broken 5th metatarsal after rolling my ankle ... boot for 6 weeks, and plan to be back with my daily 4 - 7 mile walks and regular hot yoga practice as mindfully as possible. Blessings and thanks "Dr. Foot".

Broke my navicular bone and dislocated too, thanks for the information! I was prepared if my foot won’t work normal anymore, I'm hopeful if I keep to the basics and be careful I can do it! Wish me luck on the surgery in 3 days

I got most of questions answered, thank you so much. It is really very helpful and informative.
I am 51. And I am still in a process of healing but have lot of queries. I had a road accident on March 3, 2022. I was hit by a taxi and it's tyre just happened to roll over the part of my right foot.
During the time of collision, the pain was too intense and burning and I couldn't stand my right foot. I didn't realize that my foot had fractured until I was rushed to emergency room in a nearby hospital by the traffic police, of course in the same car that hit me! An x-ray revealed that I had 2nd, 3rd and 4th metatarsals broken! I was put an L-shaped cast for 5 weeks. I used crochet for walking. I got my cast removed on April 4. Now I am walking, however, I feel it's not like a normal walk, I feel my right foot being locked.
I haven't started any physiotherapy but doing some exercises myself following YouTube videos.
Now the stretching exercises you have shared within us are going to be really helpful.
Is it fine if I do exercises myself at home or is it advisable to do physiotherapy?
Anticipating your positive response.

Thank you Doc. and with all the comments I don't feel so alone. I am in my fifth week of #three toe fracture. (Xray report says goes into MTP joint & 2nd toe fracture also, but my Doctor says after looking at other xray angle it's just #3 near the top ) Doing all the right things I hope. This is scary going from fully active to keeping weight off so it will heal. Trying to be positive and will not rush healing.

I'm 3 months in and still in a lot of pain because I couldn't stop going to work.. not worth it guys, heal yourself properly, take all the time it takes and do the physical therapy..
