The story behind this is pretty amazing. I can't imagine an imprisoned king writing such a beautiful piece, yet here you are bringing it back to life hundreds of years later.

Thanks for sharing, your skill with stringed instruments is incredible. I've been a subscriber since I saw your riders on the storm arrangement.

Good Morning Daniel. I have heard this piece before and for some reason I thought you had posted it before. Either way thanks for doing so. It is a piece of music with a great back story. Richard was born in England but spent most of his life in France and visiting his father's foreign estates which as he was from Norman stock would be considered normal. His mother was of course Eleanor of Aquitaine so we do have to remember that England and France were at the time considered one Kingdom. As a King he did as most noblemen of the time done and went off to try and free the Holy Lands from the spread of Islam. Money troubles with funding these foreign jaunts were what got him in trouble and he was held ransom. This was a bit different to being imprisoned and as a Noble King he would have been able to do most things apart from travel. That he was able to compose such melodies is indeed an amazing skill but he would have been well schooled in such arts.
I know you have been to this foggy old Island of ours and you probably have spent as much time in England as Richard did while he was King! So with your skills as a Lutenist and composer, the fact that you also spent time in France as well as England plus I am guessing you can "parle une peu de Francais" then I reckon you have a good shot at being the next King of England!
Turning Cold here and we have had a few frosts. I hope your snow blower has been checked over and is ready for the first snowfalls.

Beautiful. It's nice to know there's still a little of old England across the pond in the Colonies, not that Richard I spent much time here!

Well, at least you could say Richard was a better musician than a tactician. A very lovely rendition, thank you.

This is beautiful, and exactly the reason I subscribed to you. Your accoustic covers, and especially of older/medieval songs are perfect for d&d and other fantasy roleplay. Keep up the amazing work - and I love that you play the Lute (and other variations of strings), something that is hard to find here on youtube.

King Richard was also a very Tolantle composer! Among his greatest hits, I really like Long Tooool Saley, Lucy and Tutti Frutti! (I was trying to joke) the melody is really excellent. The execution is still superior.👏👏👏

So *The* Lionheart wrote this? Dang, that's pretty impressive considering what he's known for. Also, good work.

Just lovely. Was it easier to learn other strings once you had a handle on one instrument?

Beautiful work, Dan. Is this based on the version by Owain Phyfe?
