the area east of the Egyptian kingdom(cairo) where the slaves were held in Goshen (far north-east side of cairo) is swamp land. the northern tip of red sea stops far south of Cairo and Goshen.. way down by Suez .
you can call the reeds and swamps north of the red sea "THE RED SEA" if you choose but present day a much dryer 'Ismailia' is where goshen was and they traveled east from there toward present day Israel thru the swamps to make their escape in the sinai desert.
they did not travel south 200 kilometers out of their way, into and thru the heart of the egyptian kingdom and soldiers and THEN turn east to try to cross the 10 kilometer wide part of the red sea, that would be crazy especially with thousands of people, and animals and wagons, besides which, moses was taught by jethro, his bedouin father in law, the shortcuts thru the swamp and how to gather water in the desert and everything he needed to know to accomplish his task, do you really think moses was so foolish as to drag thousands of people hundreds of kilometers out of their way just to cross the most difficult area possible when its common sense to just evacuate goshen straight east ?
the egyptians saw the swamp as an impassable barrier forming their "east wall" and would never think to travel in that direction only jethro the bedouin and moses and maybe joshua knew of a path thru it open only during certain dry months . thats why we dug the suez canal thru there..theres totally logical explanations of the nile turning red and the plagues and everything thats way more amazing than religious magic and shows moses AND christs true spiritual wisdom .. anyway.. keep learning my friend theres much more but i cant save the world thru youtube comments.

So Moses raised his staff, the sea split, and then he outstretched his hand and the waters came back. Yeah, nature. Also, the Bible says they crossed on dry ground. Not only did God split the sea, he made the ground dry. This is a recorded miracle. God is more amazing then our limited scientific methods.
