NEW EVIDENCE: Does THIS PROVE the Shroud of Turin is REAL?

Is the debate over the Shroud of Turin over? Many Christians believe it was the burial cloth of Jesus and even non-Christian scientists struggle to explain how the image of a man was imposed onto it. But some scientists have claimed that carbon dating has proven it is much younger than previously thought. However, Shroud of Turin Research Project Official Photographer Barrie Schwortz joins Glenn to explain why he's refuting that claim. According to Schwortz, who was once a "total skeptic" of the Shroud, the carbon dating was improperly done. Instead, he believes the most plausible explanation is simple: "This is the burial shroud of the historic Jesus of Nazareth."

I have been a long-time student and later a teacher of the Shroud of Turin and can tell you that it takes an incredible imagination and deliberate closemindedness to disbelieve the authenticity of the Shroud. If one considers just the pieces of anatomically correct evidence found in the body image alone it's conclusive this image is of an anatomically correct human male body. But if you couple all these pieces of information with all the other pieces of information like the blood stains, the scourge marks, the piercings at the Destot Spaces in the wrists which are the only places that can support the weight of a human body hanging vertically, the obvious effects of gravity on the blood flows (gravity wasn't discovered until the mid-1600s), the 52 different pollen grains that have been identified, the orientation of the body image which shows the effects of rigor mortis, and numerous other irrefutable aspects of the Shroud it becomes overwhelmingly obvious that this is the crucified, dead, buried, and resurrected man Jesus Christ. -Amen

If it is or isn't does not matter. The tomb is empty and Jesus is risen to the right hand of the father, indeed. Nothing else matters if you don't believe that the word of God is true.

To those who believe, no explanation is required. To those who don’t believe, all explanations are not enough.

Glenn, I’m a friend of Barrie, and I not only do presentations on the Shroud, but I have a Replica at my home here in Grapevine. The Linen cloth is without doubt the burial cloth of Jesus Christ. As a photographer, I also work with the highest level medical company used for surgery. Barrie had also touched this company back in the early 80’s. We both know the carbon dating was not only flawed, it was done with intent. There are many outside the Church that do Not want this information about the validity of Christ’s burial cloth to get out. Since the proof also lends itself to a force from within the shroud where this man was going spiritual. This is only the pinnacle or tip of the iceberg when it comes to Proof is Christ’s divinity, and especially the miracles that are ignored by the media and other faith traditions.

The carbon dating problem was debunked recently. They had carbon dated a piece that was repaired after a fire in the middle ages.
The botanical science relates the shroud to the area of Jerusalem.

The carbon dateing was done on a 'REPAIR PATCH" not on the original material.

I would be in utter and complete awe just laying my sinful eyes on this holy cloth. I would probably break down in tears just being in its presence.

For those people who are trying to understand what is happening, this burial cloth was studied by scientists using many different scientific method in 1988. One of those many techniques used was carbon dating. The piece carbon dated was taken from a strip of material used to repair the shroud after it was burnt in a fire. It wasn't the actual shroud that was tested. The carbon date of this sample of cloth was found to be around 1300 AD. Hence it was said to be a medieval forgery. We now know with certainty, that it can be dated to the time of Jesus, and through pollen samples we can pinpoint the location of use to the site of the death of Jesus. The image on the shroud matches the biblical description of the tortures and crucification of Jesus. There are very many conclusive tests that identify this with the biblical account and non that exclude it. What's more, modern man cannot create this artefact and no others have ever been found. If you collect the facts from say three plus documentaries on the Shroud of Turin, because no one documentary lists everything for some reason, you cannot believe anything but that it is the burial shroud of Jesus Christ. That is not a statement of someone of faith. That is hard nosed scientific reality. If the intersection of modern scientific testing and the Catholic belief is something that interests you, look also into Eucharistic miracles and the tilma of the Lady of Guadalupe.

I’m surprised they didn’t go into more detail about how the carbon dating was wrong. Also, the images of the flowers were pinpointed to Jerusalem at the time of Jesus. I’ve spent a lot of time looking into this and am 100% convinced it is actually the burial cloth of Jesus.

RECENT UPDATE ON THE SHROUD - there was a technique used on some of the more recent high tech images of the shroud that used extreme magnification which revealed a very faint shadow undetectable to the naked eye, where small prayer boxes would go on the forehead and on the right hand. These are known as "Tefillin" and are still used in Orthodox Judaism and go all the way back to at least 1BC. They contain Torah passages from Deuteronomy 6 and are used in prayer "and you shall bind them upon your hands [God's commands] and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes". These would never be used as a burial custom, so why are these very faint marks there? A deeper examination of the Tefillin mark on the forehead looks like the Tefillin box was upsidedown and torn. This is where this gets JAW DROPPING. IMO this was a malicious attempt on the part of the Roman soldiers who scourged Jesus, to mock and humiliate him as a Jew. Why? They were fed up with being stationed in Judea with a difficult people who hated them and a culture they found to be absolutely bizarre. The demonic spirits in these soldiers gleefully and hatefully looked to do the most humiliating things they could think of to Jesus. So they took Tefillin prayer boxes they had confiscated from captured "Sicarii" (i.e. Jewish zealots) and wrapped the Tefillin on his forehead and right arm and probably tore the one they put on his forehead, INTENTIONALLY strapping it on UPSIDE DOWN to mock him. They would have a basic idea of how to do it because "laying Tefillin" was definitely practiced by the Pharisees and probably by many other devout Jews frequently and out in the open - not just in the Temple or in synagogues. and here is the point - the body on the shroud was scourged which is why you can see blood stains on the cloth. If they wrapped the Tefillin on him after they scourged him, then once the Tefillin was taken off, it would leave the outline of the boxes due to encrusted blood sticking to the skin in areas surrounding the Tefillin boxes and straps. While most of the blood was washed from his body for burial, it's entirely possible that they couldn't get it all off due to this being done in haste because it was Pesach (Passover) and Shabbat. This would be especially because of his deep gashed wounds from the scourging which would have bled profusely. I think this is yet another incredible proof that the shroud is authentic.

Earlier in my life I was agnostic, and had plenty of doubts about Christianity as well as almost all religions. However, I first read about the Shroud a long time ago and found it merely interesting. Later I learned more about the Shroud and as I learned about the Bible, the evidence became clearer and clearer. In other words, when my mind was ready to receive and analyze the information, I began to see and understand that the Shroud is what the Bible describes it is. The Bible tells us that "in a flash" or words to that effect depending on the Bible version, the transformation took place. Scientist can't tell with certainty how the image was made, however, there are some tests performed by French scientist that produced an image with a specific frequency of radiation. In the case of the Shroud, the body itself produce an intense radiation for a few nano-seconds that would have formed the image of the front and back of the body. The intense energy within the body radiated through the burial clothe from within. That is what I believe happened to Jesus. And it happened just as Jesus and the Bible said. Of all the burial cloths of that time period with the same or similar material, the is only one Shroud of Turin- the one of Jesus Christ.

*Awesome* to have *Barrie Schwortz* on... Few years back Barrie was on *EWTN* (you can find it on *YouTube)* and he explained why the blood on the Shroud look so fresh and not old... A Hematologists said, when a person is tortured for a long period of time, *bilirubin* a substance that the liver makes produces excessive amount of *bilirubin* to the point it starts backing up into the bloodstream, that process breaks down all the red blood cell walls. When that happens the blood stays *Red* forever... After time it doesn't turn brown or dark brown, it stays bright red forever... †

The carbon dating was done on a piece of the cloth that was re-woven with cotton to repair the edges. They took the sample from the wrong location.

Facts. About the carbon dating of the shroud .. the samples for the carbon dating were taken from repairs that were done on the shroud ....the samples were cotton, not linen..so they did NOT get the samples from the original linen... They got the samples from the repaired areas . .the original shroud was pure linen... Expensive. The samples were cotton..repaired sections of the shroud..
