Great video! You saved me hours of frustration with trying to remove the door panel and lock mechanism. Never having done this job before, it took me about 3 hours start to finish. I saved a bundle on labor. The door you worked on is the passenger side, not the side that has the key lock cylinder. Im in the U.S. and I had an additional part for the lock cylinder that looked like it was just a guide tunnel to get the lock tab into the lock motor mechanism. Since I didn't see it until it fell out, I had no idea how to get it back in. Since I had the door panel off, it was easy to just reach in and guide it by hand, but if it has to be replaced in the future, I'm pretty sure the panel will have to be removed.
In the U.S. you can find parts diagrams and parts by just doing a Google search for Audi parts. I looked around and got the part for $280 including shipping. I agree with you to use genuine Audi parts for something like this. The Amazon and eBay parts might be cheaper, but dubious quality.

Hi, great video! Wonder if you could help me. Thieves pulled out the driver's side lock cylinder on my 2010 Audi S5 (4.2 V8), then were disturbed before they could do any more damage (or nick the car). Otherwise, the door works perfectly well using the fob. Watching your video, I reckon I can fix it myself, but after hours of searching I cannot find where to buy the lock cylinder from (it's the first part you remove in your vid). Could you point me in the right direction please? I would be most grateful.

My passenger door handle doesnt work but still locks. Will this process of changing the door lock and cable be similar on an s5? I want to do nit myself because getting it repaired at the garages is too costly.

Is it obligatory to remove the barrel type? When it comes to the passenger side. Thank you very much, many do the manipulation without removing this part apparently. Scuze my english i'm french.

Why did you remove the door lock cylinder? It's not connected to the actuator. I can see in my car it's not connected to anything, do some models have an actuator with an extra part for connecting to the key cylinder for unlocking with a key? I wish mine had as all I have is the plastic spare key which is useless if the car is locked.

Hi my drivers door handle won’t open my Audi a5 b8 2011 door it opens from the inside though, all other doors work fine do I need to do the same as the video and replace the lock?all other doors lock unlock/open it’s just the driver side handle won’t open my door only from the inside I removed the door handle sprayed some double d 40 to see it it would work but nothing I need help please
